External Encoders (FLAC and MP3)???

I have a final mix I’m trying to get encoded and uploaded to Soundcloud. In fact, I was able to get it to work on my first pass, but because too much data was captured in the upload (i.e., it was too long) I took it down. Since then I’ve been unable to get the file encoded or uploaded. Initially, I was getting a notice that my audio data disc might be full and that’s why the encoding may not have worked; however, there’s more than ample audio disc space as indicated at the bottom of my X2 panel.

Eventually, I was able to get the new project encoded again, and 3 times in a row, after waiting about 30 minutes for the soundcloud upload to go through the regs, I got an “external encoder problem” notification……UUUUUGGGGGG!!!!......I’m not sure what that is all about.

Also, at one point I tried to encode the file as a soundcloud MP3, but then I got a notice that I don’t have the proper MP3 encoder. I thought for sure Sonar X2 Pro came with an MP3 encoder. What am I missing here?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and advice.

It does not come with a free MP3 encoder.  You can purchase a license for one through Cakewalk, or you can use one of the freeware ones out there.

    Hello Christopher,

Read this thread about installing LAME (Free) as an external MP3 encoder. I installed it yesterday on SX2. It works a treat.
When you create the MP3 encoder in the configuration editor, make sure WAV is in the friendly name and WAVE is the source format before clicking NEW.

    All the best,

    Glad to help.
    I the downloads list there are x86 (32-bit) and x64 (64-bit) versions. I downloaded lame3.99.5-64 for my 64-bit system.
