Sonar 5: Need Help with Drumagog 5 Plug In

I've been trying for 72 hours to move all software from a failing hard drive and rebuild my DAW.

I'm using Sonar 5, no wish to upgrade. My problem is I cant get Sonar to see Drumagog 5 no matter what I try.

I'm desperate at this point. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Windows 7
Sonar Producer 5 (installed at 32 bit.....64 bit was a disaster)
Drumagog 5

Update: Sonar 5 "sees" Drumagog in VST manager, its just not showing you for use in the FX bin.

Ok, I have Drumagog recognized by the VST Manager, but everything I try to finish the process, this message is the end game, always :

It appears Drumagog is having trouble registering itself. If it's an older version, it could be running into W7 security roadblocks. Try re-installing it as Administrator, and then run the Plugin Manager scan as Administrator.

Thanks bitflipper. The registration portion of Drumagog was completed prior to this point. I went through all those hoops and its was authorized. So if you have a "plan B", hit me.

In a more general question, as Sonar 5 is older version, does anyone know of any compatibility issues with Window 7? Its definitely did NOT like it when I tried to run the program 64bit.

By "registration", I'm referring to what happens when SONAR scans plugins. Some background...

Each plugin has an initialization routine built into it which Plugin Manager invokes during the scan. The DAW cannot know what any given plugin has to do to prepare itself for use, so the DLL itself has to provide that functionality. Plugin Manager can only sit and wait for the DLL to report back that it's done registering itself. If anything goes awry, Plugin Manager won't know why and can do nothing but de-list the plugin.

One thing that can go wrong under Windows 7 is that a plugin may need to write to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry hive. Under previous versions of Windows, this was common practice and perfectly OK. But under Windows 7, it's a no-no. Consequently, older software can have issues with Windows 7 and may only install and/or run when the user is Administrator.

Yes, Sonar 5 was released long before Windows 7. It may work, but you will probably have some issues.

Does Sonar work on anything else without using DRMGG?

Kind of having the same trouble here. Trying to get the 14 day free trial of Drumagog 5 to be recognized, the plug in manager won't locate it after multiple tries of VST scans. No luck, it's the 64bit program. Not making me feel warm and fuzzy about purchasing gog5 for sonar 8.  I love drumagog, it would be horrible not to utilize some of gog5's new jazz :)

Bitflipper: how do your self up with Sonar to scan as an administrator?

    Cheers
    Rob.
