How to tell what key it's in ?

Hi,
I downloaded the free loops from Cake a couple of months ago, if it's a WAV file, how do I know what key it's in ?
Some of them do say, and nearly all REX files do.

Thanks
John

I pick up an acoustic guitar and play along.

A few seconds later it's fairly clear what the relative "Major" key is.

It probably works with a piano too.

    best regards,

Don't know, when mono file would maybe try create a V-vocal clip.
V-vocal shows the key in it's UI.

Just use your ears to match the key with a piano soft synth or a guitar or any other instrument that has known keys

If you can figure out what the first chord is, that often will tell you the key, i.e., if the first chord is a G major or an E minor, the song is probably in G.

If you don't have a good ear, you could use V-Vocal to see the tones being played and match that to a key.

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.
