Chains - a way to keep up good habits

One of my biggest problems is keeping good habits up. It's much better to progress a little each day than to move in irregular spurts that come and go when you feel like it. Unfortunately I fall in the latter category. There's something about daily progress - no matter how small - that builds results better than any other method. I need to change.

A personal example is watching Groove3 videos or (currently), reading the Kontakt manual. I'll go two or three days where I watch a ton of videos and read loads of the manual, then it all goes to pot for a few days. And in that downtime, I lose motivation. I feel like I've forgotten stuff and that the progress I've made has been wasted. It's the same with a fitness regime: skip a few days and you feel like you've undone your previous effort. You don't have the heart to go back.

Well a couple of days ago I came across this little gem, it's a free online app called "Chains" (there is also a phone app) which is a simple graphical method for keeping good habits. The inspiration behind it actually came from Jerry Seinfeld believe it or not....he used to make himself write jokes every day so that he could mark off the huge yearly planner on his wall and make an unbroken chain of achievement which motivated him to keep it up. I kind of like the idea and am going to try it. I guess all it does is make you more aware, in a colorful way, of how well you are sustaining your good habits. If you're anything like me, you'll think it's a great idea which could help. If you're not, I guess you'll think it's stupid

Anyway, the URL is https://chains.cc/

I get inspiration from the sun. You know, if and when it comes up.
