X1 - How to change tempo on exising project
After recording a song and exporting it to a wave file, I'd like to try hearing it at different tempos as I think the original is not best for the song. I'm able to start a new project, set its tempo to the same as the original recording, import my song. So far so good. How do I change the tempo??? I have followed the tutorial below but the audio doesn't change as I change the project tempo. Any help is much appreciated. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weIZy_ibH5c

You ought not to use Audio Snap for this. In Track View: Make your entire stereo wav fit to screen Hold down the Ctrl key and hover your mouse to the end of the wav drawing Click the left mouse button; You will see a yellow vertical bar By keeping the Ctrl key depressed and left mouse button You can drag the wav picture left-n-right Left will shorten and speed things up-and right the opposite Do a Bounce to Clip when done.

If you have the free Audacity program it's a snap. Import your wav master and change the tempo (but not the pitch) Very simple and sounds fine to my ears if you don't go crazy with the percentage.

Here's the next challenge. How do I change the tempo in a project for all audio and midi tracks before I export a final mix? I know that when I change the tempo in the transport bar that the midi tracks automatically adjust accordingly but how do I get the audio clips in the tracks to respond as well. I say clips because each audio track does not have a complete wav form from the start to the end of the project. I'll try posting a screen shot of the track view of my project if that helps describe this. Would be great if I could make this work as I'd like to avoid having to re-track the audio as I got some 'accidental-magic' I dont know I can reproduce. Thanks guys

If you bounce the track it will become one wave with silences.

M_Glenn_M: Ok, good idea. Then what's the next step to change tempo for both midi and the bounced audio?

The two ideas should both work. Either Control/drag the clips in sonar (Orange bar at the end will show) or export the whole mix (or indiv. trax) and do it in Audacity. If in sonar, I think you have to ensure the trax are all the same length by slip editing them
