Anyone know how to get a cymbal stop with Session Drummer 3?
You know when a drummer hits the cymbal and quickly grabs it. Anyone know how to do this?

Somewhere in there are sfx files that do this when you use an alternate note value. I had a kit loaded once that did it but sorry can't remember which. Bottom line is it's an actual sample of someone doing this. It's similar to open close hi hat. The problem is the files are not exactly labeled to make this clear, you are faced with loading each file and playing it untill found, hopefully someone here has it bookmarked.

I don't know about SSD but in Addictive Drums there is a note you can trigger to stop the cymbal. It is a note somewhere above the regular notes for the drums. You may have to keep trying till you find the right note. In AD, it is an E note 2 or 3 octaves above. HTH

I couldn't find a note that choked the cymbal. An option would be to get a choked cymbal sample and add it to the kit you're using.

What you're looking for is commonly called a "mute group" or "choke group". You can set this up in most advanced soft-samplers. Much easier in something like Kontakt than DimPro or anything that uses .SFZ (due to the lack of dedicated editor and documentation) If you have Kontakt, HALion, Mach5, etc.... load the Wav files for the desired cymbal and create a mute-group there.

What you're looking for in .sfz is off_by. Set up exclusive groups that are cut "off_by" another group. Here's a quick search for off_by from the Instruments Forum. There's enough example files to get you started.

That is exactly how the thread I posted above does it. There is a fully worked example in the thread.

That is exactly how the thread I posted above does it. Missed that, scook. I did skim the example earlier, but I thought they were 'muting' using identical hits with a velocity of 1. Now I see the off_by references.

Another way to do it is to bounce the cymbal to a wav and cut it off where you want and put a short fade on it. It sounds pretty good.

The closed, pedal, and open hihats are mute grouped by default on all of SD3's kits, so looking at the code for those kit pieces and then using it by copying and replacing the relevant lines would be the rout I would take. Then assign an empty key to the choke group and you should be good to go.
