disk -L4 - lump - L5 - disk

Not wishing to distract from the gravity of Bill's mass, which I have read is now reduced in concern.  Wishing you well there Bill please carry on with your being funny in an unfunny way.

Just thought I would mention the apparent lump that is between my L4 and L5 vertebrae, the more concerning bit is that the diagnostician telephoned me to say he was referring me directly to the cutters.

We will see.

Hoping things go well for you.

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

Let's see what the cutters have to say before they start to cut.

If however they reach straight for the chain-saws then start to worry.

    Feeling your pain, Wookie.

If you do end up getting cut, some advice: don't be a tough guy - take the fistful of narcotics they're handing you and then kick back. Set the step sequencer to 40 bpm and compose a dirge in Am. Worked for me.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

My L3 and L4 degenerated together and surgery was recommended.  I went the "woo-woo" route using hypnosis and NLP and regrew them (by reframing: "my disks are regenerating").  It took over three years, but when I got the x-ray from my doctor he was blown away - he thought it was impossible.

Best wishes Wookie. Hope it all goes well.

The last time I seriously had an issue with a disk in the L4-L5 region the doc told me that when a spine gets to be older (he was being nice I think)...he told me that the disks get less resilient and the bones tend to grow things called spurs. The name reminded me of the kind cowboys use to giddy up their horses and the associated thoughts weren't good. As it turned out these "spurs" are extra bone growth that can sometimes affect your spinal function.

If the lump is a spur then a repair is pretty straightforward and routine. At least routine for them, not for you I'm sure. Best wishes on the outcome.

You mentioned when it rains it pours and I remembered your encounter with rain in your house at one point. Hope you got that all cleared up now.

The MRI report makes for interesting reading, seems L3 to L4 not so good either and there is some displacement here to.  The S1 L5 i/f is not that hot either.

Yes, it is good to actually see and know what you have to deal with.  Besides the sanity check, you have something definite that you and your doctors can work on.  It sure beats guessing at things.

I'm looking forward to when I can afford one of the GOOD back inversion devices (you don't need to go completely upside down).  You just need to decompress the back for awhile and allow things to move back to their correct places.
