Just listened to the demos on this - does sound interesting - but I just got Sound Toys Echoboy, so price will have to be very keen for me to be really interested

I could see no compelling reason to buy this delay, other than perhaps the ability to add distortion to the echoes. But that's not a feature I've ever felt I'd been missing.

I think I'm going to finally pick up Timeless 2. I'd demoed it a while back and watched Dan Worrall's video and concluded that it was overkill, that I'd never need all those modulation features, and it looked like too much work to set up your typical bread 'n butter delays. But it's the only one I've found so far that's capable of self-ducking (other than a limited freebie called GDuckDelay). Delay ducking is a technique I use often, and it would be convenient to not need a separate bus to do it.

Everybody says EchoBoy is the greatest, but I don't want the dongle.

    [EDIT]
After initially dismissing this as just another delay, I've since taken a closer look at it and decided that it'll be worth a demo - assuming the introductory price is reasonable. What pulled me in was the demo that demonstrated rapid automated delay time changes with no artifacts. My current delays cannot do that, although Timeless can.

I think I have to buy it, if the price is right. The guitar player in my punk band is actually named Sigmund. He's a great guy, I like effects like this one, I can finally talk o him about something nerdy. Win win maybe?

Better yet, talk Sigmund into buying it. Tell him you'll spring for the next plugin to come on the market called "Marius".

LOL - Good one! He actually wanted to have it on our album that we are currently making. I said I didn't know what to use it for and he said it didn't matter. If it sounded cool he'd play another guitar solo for it.

Today he e-mailed me asking which is better; Cubase or Pro Tools

Sounds like Sigmund is starting down the path to the dark side. A year from now he'll be debating EAReverb versus ValhallaRoom and asking you if GAS is a real affliction or a normal condition. Worse still, he may start going to yorolpal for purchasing advice. Be sure to guide your padawan well, ProjectM.

He he I'll do my best but if he take over the recording duties, I'll let him run free. That's one chore I'm happy to be without in my bands

yorolpal, if you're still checking in on this thread...I know you've got just about everything, any chance you've got U-He's MFM2? It looks like it does stuff that Timeless can't do, but it has a starship user interface that makes me want to grab hold of the nearest handrail.

Sigmund is from the D16 Group, which alone makes it a plug-in of interest ... I have yet to encounter anything from them that's not high quality.  I wish them well with it.  There does seem to be a plethora of overqualified delays on the market these days.

The newer ones make Timeless 2 (the former gold standard) look a little underpowered by comparison.  And didn't FF discount Timeless 2 by 50% right around the time FXpansion's Bloom was introduced?  Bloom is probably the closest thing to compare Sigmund to.  Of course there is MFM2, but I wonder if there's anyone alive who truly understands that one.  And then there's Echoboy ... way too expensive and requires iLok to boot.  Someone else is welcome to deal with that comparison.

    Correct.
Timeless 2 was 50% off back in April.

    Couldn't pass it up.

well as the other thread mentioned.. it's out today.. and got a really nice discount price (due to having their other stuff) .. so because of that it's a no brainer after I try it for a bit , to make 100% sure.. although like fabfilter.. if it's something I don't have (e.g. like a de-sser)

the interface, I had a muck around with .. it could have been a bit better  e.g. like z3ta 2, where you can move the blocks around easier.

I do notice that pro audio companies go in phases... this seems to be the latest fad.. like FET black / white a while ago :)

Got my trigger finger itching on the credit card for this one.

Wasn't initially over impressed by the first bunch of mono echoes, but further presets down the line, and getting under the hood a bit...

Thought Timeless would be the final delay unit I'd ever buy, but this thing might be better than Timeless. This will really really be my last delay plug.

Looks like a simple license key file to activate, so wouldn't have to dig through the warez sites to get a reliable crack before purchasing.

Done got it and thanks Crowned for the heads up.

    Perspective on getting the thing...

Means about 89 yankee dollars. If you got a group 16 plug already, reduces to under 72 dollars.

Transaction from here was immediate. They issue a serial number to get to the user area to register. Would require starting an account if first time.

Register and have access to the 32 and 64 bit versions as well as the license file to activate on infinite computers as needed..

Seamless and rapid sequence to get it up and running. No online activation, dongle ****.

This is a killer ap. Taking a few grains of rice out of the mouths of 99% of starving humanity, and this pains me, but if you are in a position to afford it, go for it.

If I recall correctly, D16 usually have a holiday sale.  I think they offered 30 or 35% discount on everything in their shop last year.  So, if you can wait a ten or twelve more weeks, you'll likely be able to save even more.

    Dmbaer,

You're right. Got Toraverb from the folks on some fire sale, and could probably get Sigmund up the line for $50 at this rate.

Sigmund is some state of art macho plug, and guess I don't regret the $72 to get it now.

One hi point for random interest may be to program an independent delay line to a flange or chorus, then program another two of the four to a stereo echo. Program the fourth to a reverb. So far, covers a lot of bases like they honestly advertised. Barely scratched the surface of the potential.

Very pleased with this thing so far.

I've only had this a couple of days and just used it again already - replaced some of my "older" effects with this - just got a great sound and effect on some lead guitar - and personally I really like the GUI and I find it very easy to get something good sounding from it quickly - I am really looking forward to getting to know Sigmund very well - in a purely male platonic type of way of course.............................
