A Prelude To September (Original Instrumental)

Here's a new one I've been working on for awhile. It features my new "Rock Solid" Ez Drummer exp and all my new shiny Fab Filter plugins. Any and all thoughts, ideas or critiques on the mix would be appreciated as always.

Cakewalk, Harrison Mixbus 4, Waveform 9, ADK intel i7 2600 3.40 ghz, 8gb Ram, Win 7, Presonus Audiobox 44VSL.

    Hey great vibe!
I had a hard time hearing the lead though. But of course I'm listening at work with crummy desktop speakers.

    DAW/Video comp (still in tweaking phase): i7-4770K temporary OC @ 4.0GHz // MSI Z87 Mpower // 32GB RAM // 256GB Samsung SSD // 2TB WD HDD // ASUS GTX660Ti OC // SIIG FW // Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 // Win 8-Pro-64 // SONAR X2a

    DAW2: Cakewalk Express 8.04 (from 1999) // XP on a P4 (Pentium. Remember those?) // Magix Music Maker 10 // M-Audio Delta 44

    Sounds great.

I like all the mixing up of the guitar parts and the strong full toned chunky rhythm motif sounded really nice too.

It seems simple, (in a good way) really lively, and very fresh.

    Thanks for sharing.

    best regards,

Thanks for the comments. The lead is back in the mix on purpose so the rhythm guitars won't get buried. I hope to improve my listening environment in the future...so your thoughts on the overall mix would be a huge help.

I'm a fan of the idea of keeping the lead in the mix the way you have.

I think sometimes it helps emphasize the quality of the song, as a song, on the whole. You have to have a pretty good song for it to work and I think you made all that happen.

Thanks for taking the time to listen. I hope to get caught up with all of your guys songs and links this weekend. I truly respect the talent on this forum more than any other resource I have.
For the Ez Drummer users I wanted to add that I used the Gretsch set from Rock Solid on this one. I had to change the mix a lot. Toontrack had way too much kick and too much room mic for my taste. Quite a bit of work went into the drums. I'm trying to learn how to do a better job with them.

Hi Clint nice one, great guitar playing, wish the lead guitar was louder and the bass less loud.

    Awesome all the way around.
    Really tight, spacious mix man!
It was a tad bassy on my end as well, but it sounds great.

Thanks everyone for listening and giving your opinions. I haven't heard this on anything other than my monitors or headphones, so I'll for sure re-check the mix and see if I have too much low end. I'm glad to hear it sounds ok on a phone! I hate those things and trying to get a mix to sound decent is near impossible.
Jethro Tull huh? I haven't thought of that, but now I can hear that too. I've always liked them so that's ok with me! Thanks again.

Hi Clint , this sounds fantastic ,
it's  just what I need to hear to get some of my elevator music sounds out of my head
guitar sounds great over here in the mix , I got to say I like the overall vibe , very ballsy sounding ..
it reminds me a little of Politician ...R Ford or   Clapton  ...just a little faster paced
great job on the mix and playing
