AFAIK, if the hum is really so loud it interferes with the actual voice, it's a very difficult task that requires a very specific software. In my experience gates and EQ only help to a certain level. If the dynamics of the hum and background noice are close to that of the voice, it's surely a difficult task, even if you can build a decent noise profile.
