MIDI Tempo not being read

I am trying to create a template for recordings I am making with the same two instruments (Piano and Trumpet). I am importing MIDI files created by Finale 2011 into the template created in Sonar X2 Professional. Unfortunately the tempo I get with the 2nd, 3rd, etc MIDI files is the same as the one that I created the template with. When I play the MIDI file outside of Sonar, it has the correct tempo. When I import it into the template it does not. I know I can adjust the Tempo Map in Sonar, but that's already been done in Finale. What am I missing?

If I remember correctly (that's not a sure thing), I seem to recall that MIDI import does not grab tempo.  But if you load the file it will.  If you need to, you can load the file into a separate temporary project and copy and paste.  It's been a while since I played around with this, so test and don't just take my word.

That sounds right. Here are the step-by-step instructions from the help file.

Thanks, I knew there was a way cause I have done it before. You sometimes you can't see the forest for all the trees that are in the way.

    Thanks guys!
