To all Waves plugin users
I was wondering if this is happening to you. This only happens with Waves plugins. Every time I install a new waves plugin or bundle it installs the plugs but doesn't make the registry entries for the plug so of course Sonar(X2) won't see the plugins. I have to uninstall all my Waves plugins and reinstall them all back including the new one. Waves support say's it's a Sonar thing that everyone using Sonar has this problem. Idon't buy it but I wanted to ask. Thanks

Yup...you have to simply rescan all your vst plugs...no need to reinstall all your waves stuff EXCEPT...make sure when you run the waves installer to install your new plug that you also have all your old waves plugs checked as well...which they should be by default.

I do scan my plugs after the install but they are not there. It doesn't make sense.

Have you made sure to include the folder that contains your waves shell in your scan path or made sure to have the waves installer load the shell into an existing folder that is included in your scan path?

I also had problems getting my Waves plugs to register. You want to hit that tab that says reset plug-ins when you have the plug in manager open. Even after I did this they didn't show up until I exited Sonar and re-loaded it. Reset plugs Load new plugs Rescan all plugs (as Our Ol' Pal says make sure the paths are correct) Exit Plug manager Exit Sonar Restart Sonar Those be the steps I needed to get mine sorted.

yorolpal, The waves shell is in my cakewalk vst folder and still when I install a new Waves plug it doesn't show up in Sonar vst manager after I scan it so I'm left with no choice but to un-install all my Waves plugs then re-install them again. Of couse the Waves tech insists this happens because of Sonar. I asked the tech how does Sonar prevent Waves from writting the plugin entry to the registry and he had no answer but was positive this is Sonars fault. Well I won't be installing another Waves plug anytime soon because I have a lot of them and really won't be needing more for a while. If this happends to any of you I'd like to know. Thanks.

I had the same problem when updating the Waves plug-ins. The issue, in my case was a double-whammy. First, Waves updated the online code versions from 9.0 to 9.2 or something to that effect, and X2 "looks" for version 9.0, which (now) no longer exists. So, you have to go to Preferences, then VST settings and click "Reset all Plugins". This was absolutely detrimental to any sessions I had previously had Waves plug-ins from version 9.0, but you can open the session in another version of X1 or X2 (someone else's, if necessary) and "save" each Waves plug-ins settings; then recall those settings in the new Waves 9.2 plugs after the update made your life a bit more challenging. Hope this helps!!

First thing I do is reboot computer after installing ,,,,then I open sonar and go to manage plugins at the top of the plugin drop down list in FX box ...... I add it to my grouping folder of choice from the VST list and save. And presto..... I used to struggle with this until I got used to the Plugin manager , Now its easy. Hope that helps

I initially had a problem, when I first bought and tried to use the Tapes Tubes and Transistors bundle, where only the 32 bit stereo version of the Kramer Tape would show, and no 64 bit was to be found. I then got support to help me go to the registry:HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software\ Cakewalk VSTx64 \ Inventory, and delete any waves entries, relaunch Sonar, scan, well this didn't work, but while I was in the registry,I noticed the 64 bit Kramer Tape was in a list of "disabled"plugs[but Sonars plugin manager DID NOT show this. So I deleted the disabled entry, the 64 sereo version showed, but Iv'e since gone on to spend stupid amounts of money, and not had another problem[fingers VERY crossed]. As far as Sonar always having your issue, thats a weird one, though I did get told that "this happens in some Sonar setups" that was all,and even though their fix didn't work,I was able to luckilly figure it,sorry this doesn't really help much, but that was my experience. Yep I remember jumping through hoops with waves. Also I still have GUI issues with 1 knob series. If you have a couple of knobs (ooeer) they distort visually. Make sure some of your plugs are loaded with the correct waves version. I know waves 9 installer only supports a handful of my plugs. So I have to install 8 and 9. Yay.

Are versions 8 and 9 both supporting 64 bit?

"Only V9 is 64 bit and no bloomoin iLok",their new licensing system is a breeze,as you have a choice of USB,Computer,or Cloud,I think,as I just use the USB stick method which means you can use a regular one,I have a 32GB Lexar, with a ton of other stuff on it,yet its so tiny,I leave it plugged in for fear of losing it.

I had GUI issues where when I open any Waves plug it would be blank. I think this mostly has to do with the video card. I installed a Gforece 210 card with 1gb and haven't had GUI issues since. I know There is a problem with some Intel video cards, at least there was with mine. It had 4gb on it to. The down grade is worth not having GUI issues though. I also installed another firewire card. The one built on my motherboard was a supported VIA chipset but there must have been a problem with it because I was getting constant crashed with sonar. Even closing Sonar crashed it. The firewire I installed has a TI chipset and so far no crashes at all. I was having so many issues with Sonar that I was just going to switch to Protools. I had re-imaged my pc 4 times and still had a ton of issues. After installing these to cards no problems. (knock on Wood)(fingers Crossed)(Good luck charm hanging of my monitor) Anyway of than the Waves installation issue everything is going good with Sonar.

I don't even dare launching Sonar for fear of getting a shambles...The Waves installation system is still not very logical (damn, I'm pissed) Can I just repeat the installation process and will all the plugs override automatically the existing ones ? Or have I to uninstall all my Waves folder and if the case, could you tell me how to uninstall correctly ? Thank you very much for your help
