And we're back...
Actually, I checked in here pretty much every day during our time off but I just didn't have much time to participate. Lots of interesting suggestions in that other thread I had started - Zion park is on the top of our list. My wife went there w/ her parents earlier this year and absolutely loved it.
But this time we went back to Canada - Quebec and Montreal. My wife had lots of things to take care and people to see. We probably won't be going back for quite a while, so we figured that 12 days wouldn't be too much. Though personally, I'm always happier to just stay here at home.
One of the cool things is that I managed to retrieve a lot of stuff off of old PC HD's, using a PC at my in-laws' house to transfer the data on my external HD. Old projects, mixes and texts. In fact, I think I have access to the majority of my old Sonar projects, except the stuff saved as bundle files. Not that it matters all that much, anyway...
I also had the opportunity to spend time w/ one of my best friends, my little sister as I like to call her. We had a great time drinking wine and watching Ron Burgundy for the thousandth time. She also had a nice little gift for me:
Saturday night was probably one of the biggest highlights of the trip. We visited one of my wife's friend, a guy who was playing w/ the biggest names in the industry when I was still in diapers, and probably the best keyboard player I've ever seen and heard. He had everything set up for us all to jam together. Took a few beers for me to relax and accept to even pick up the electric guitar.
But as my wife expected, we both clicked right away - and we spent the biggest part of the evening talking gear and plug-ins - and I had my first taste of Logic X.
I was also quite impressed to see a real CS80, which he'd recently taken out of storage. I couldn't bring myself to actually play it when he insisted, no matter how many beers I had ingested at that point.
Anyway, long story short, I'm back, I missed the cats and my guitars, I still hate flying and I absolutely love Las Vegas.
