Drying up a drum loop?

I have an audio drum loop I'd like to dry up.
IOW take out the reverb tails.
Would you use gating or compression?
Other methods?

Many times the reverb resides to the side or one side of the source. See what you can determined with the channel tool and eliminate the sides or side to reduce the overall reverb image. Then I would go for the gate with what remains.

Gear: A bunch of stuff.

I would try the Transient Shaper

Cakewalk, Reason 10, KOMPLETE 11, BIAB 2018, Roland OctaCapture, Finale 26, PCR-300, HP ZBook, Guitars

Add the TS-64 Transient Shaper to the track and adjust the Decay parameter to try removing the reverb tails.

Or try something like this... Acon Digital DeVerberate

Yes the TS 64 and the gate do wonders for the track
Thanks
