Impact Soundworks Freebie

OK, my own download's done now so it's safe to advertise this...it's a taster bundle of Impact Soundworks' libraries. If you're unfamiliar with this developer, they're probably best-known for their inexpensive Shreddage metal guitar and bass libraries, although they were recently in the news here with their Cinematic Toy Piano. (Contrary to rumor, there is no Cinematic Ukulele. Yet.)  All of their products are very reasonably priced, and some are rather unique.

They're now offering a freebie to encourage tasting their product line. If you're a cheapskate like me, you don't ever pass up a freebie. Disk space is cheap, and you never know, it might be useful. Or better yet, lead to a great discovery (I found my much-loved Cinematic Guitars via Sample Logic's similar Try-Pack sampler).

This one's worth the download, I think. There are some useful sounds there, some of which make me want to check out their full versions. You will need full Kontakt 4 or 5 to use these samples, although some of the company's products are compatible with the free Kontakt Player.  The instruments and samples are mostly monolithic, so you won't be able to use the samples in other players. However, the instruments are unlocked, meaning you could customize them if you wanted to.

So what's in there? 26 instruments! Subsets of each of their products, including sitar, koto, bouzouki, kalimba and dombra (I didn't know what that was, either -  it sounds like a nylon guitar), frame drum and some big metallic percussion. And the infamous toy piano, which is actually much cooler than you might think.

A week ago? I should read my emails more than once a week, I guess.

Thanks for the heads up. I have been curious about their "Plectra" series it should at least give some insight, and may even be sufficient for the limited times I would use those sounds.
