Trudy dog has ear bitten. UPDATE: see my last post

Our dog Trudy was attacked on thursday by another dog.  The dog just lunged at her as she approached for a friendly hello, the dog bit and cut her right ear on the inside right down to the cartilage about 3" long.

She had to spend the night at the vets which upset her.

She seems to be on the mend and very glad to be home.

Was the other dog on a leash? I'd be thinking about sending them the vet bill.....

Go Go took on a Mole last spring. The Mole won. All Go Go got was a bloody mole hole in his lower lip.

Didn't seem as bad as the snake holes he has gotten. They come in pairs.

Wook, I know how much you love your dogs, and what a thoughtful and caring owner you are.

You'd be amazed, and no doubt angered, by the antics of some of the prize tools that walk their pooches around the playing field at the bottom of my garden. They let them off the leash and have absolutely no control over them, even to the extent that they carry on their merry way yapping on their mobiles, oblivious to the fact that their dog is having a crap 50 yards behind them.

I once had to laugh at this one bloke though. I'd just lobbed some stale bread over the back fence to feed the birds (sadly I try to avoid tempting our avian friends into my garden because of the ruddy cats everywhere) when this (unleashed) pooch comes running in and starts eating it. The chap scolded his dog (as if the poor thing should know any better) and then proceeded, I kid you not, to lob every slice of bread back into my garden.

He he, I was out there like a shot and asked him what the feck he thought he was doing. Hie exact words were, "Because my dog is eating your ****ing leftovers and I'm not ****ing happy about it, that's why."

I managed to remain calm and politely informed him that if his dog had have been on its lead, or at least under his control, it wouldn't have eaten my "leftovers".

I could sense his minuscule brain trying to come up with something half-intelligible to counter me with but there was nothing he could say. I put him out of his embarrassed silence by adding that by throwing the bread back into my garden, I would have a strong case against him for criminal damage.

"You're just a know-it-all ****" was the best he could muster!

    I haven't seen him for a while

    Thanks Larry, thanks Steve,

Random food dumping can be a problem especially when your four legged friend had to be rescued from the type of brainless moron you describe above.  Whom probably feed their dog that muck that goes in one end and comes out the other the same colour.

We sus-p-e-c-t our Trudy was not fed properly or regularly before we took her away from the mentally challenged two legs that where reportedly her carers and owners.

Good for you Steve for trying to protect the local bird population from the evil that is feline.  Found food is a problem, but it is our problem not anybody else's and our Trudy has learnt with our guidance what she can snuffle and what gives her an upset belly.  Her favourite snuffle at this time of year is Plumbs and blackberries.  Her other favourite snuffle is what ever daddy has in his left pocket cause daddy always has something for me in his left pocket.

Unleashed dogs are a huge problem everywhere, not least of all Manhattan. I manage a team of dog walkers and one of the most common problems they face is idiots who walk their dog(s) off leash on the streets. They run up to our dogs and more often than not, it results in some kind of ruckus. A lot of these morons have aggressive, hostile dogs who should be muzzled let alone leashed.

But regardless of temperament, when an unleashed dog encounters a leashed dog the potential for a brouhaha is always there. I think it has something to do with the clash in body language between leashed and unleashed mutts. When they're unleashed, they're restricted in the kind of body language they can show each other and when one dog is giving it the full "Hey whatcha up to" and the other isn't responding as they should, wires get crossed.

You also have to think about people who are terrified of dogs. To such people, the sight of an unleashed dog approaching them is one the scariest things they can imagine - even if it's a toothless old chihuahua with its paw in a sling. And of course dogs usually detect fear...

Do I see correctly....??? A doberman got bitten? Not good for the reputation of the breed :o) :o)

    No..seriously, I wish her well!

We have a dog which starts fiercely barking on SOME dogs that she meets when she's on a leash. We have not found what actually is the triggering factor. When she's free in the dog-park or in the woods, no problems.
The dog school was a waste of money and time, 'cause when she had met the other dogs, everything was fine.
It's not nice that my better-half just hardly has the strength to hold her when she goes berzerk.

@Kalle "A doberman got bitten?" Nooooo our Trudy is a soppy lovable black labrador who is everyone's friend.  She stops people in the street rolls on back over thier feet until she gets a fuss.

UPDATE:  She saw the vet today we need to keep bathing and take her back next week, however there is a lump and some swelling so we have been told if it get any larger to ring her back sooner.
