Sonar Cakewalk x2 Static...

So ever since I downloaded it today after buying it, I notice that after I'm done using it and I try to play some other audio (i.e. Youtube) I get really loud static. It does this even when I'm in the middle of using it, and it ruins any audio that is being played, including some of the audio in the software itself. Is there a bug fix? It did this on the demo also, idk if it's just me. Please and thank you!

Sounds like an issue with Flash sharing the driver with your soundcard.

Restart the Windows Audio Service is a workaround on this.

(I get this issue too with my MOTU Audio Express but NOT with my Delta 1010 PCi)

Sonar Platinum 64 bit > Pro tools 10.3.2 >Intel i7 3770K > 16Gb Ram > Gigabyte Z77-D3H Motherboard> NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2 GB > ATi RADEON HD5700 > 240GB OCZ Agility 3 SSD> Win 10 home 64 bit> Delta 1010 > MOTU Audio Express > MA-15D's > NI Ultimate 9 > NI Kontrol S61 1.1 > NI MAschine Studio 2.3 / KORG MS-20 Mini - Arturia MicroBrute > KORG SQ1 - KORG Kaoss Pad KP3 > iPad and IO Dock 2 running various bits > Bunch of guitars >

It sounds like you are relying on the sound chip inside your computer, as if you had a dedicated audio interface you would likely be well aware of it.  If that is indeed the case, then you may not have enough horsepower in your CPU to handle the analog/digital conversion that is normally handed off to a dedicated audio interface.  That conversion work is very CPU intensive, and it usually leads to crackles and dropouts.  A dedicated audio interface takes on that responsibility, and it leaves the CPU free for other tasks.

There is a wrapper program called ASIO4ALL that you could download and try, but my advice to you would be that if you want to really do music production, with a tool like Sonar, you should consider picking up a dedicated audio interface.  ASIO4ALL does work for some folks, to what extent I cannot say.

Here is a link for a page that explains how to use ASIO4ALL, and there is also a download link on the page.  You can start with this and see how it goes, but I think fairly soon into it you will likely outgrow whatever ASIO4ALL could do for you.  Still, might be worth a shot for now.

tuckman122 . . . I can also echo what Bob Bone is saying above, you really should get a proper soundcard, rather than rely on the onboard soundcard that came with your computer. External USB soundcards that are capable of recording 24 bit audio are fairly cheap these days (for an entry level one)
Then you can enjoy more of what Sonar has to offer without the limitations.
