V700R and Sonar X2

Hi Forum!
First please excuse my bad english - i am from Germany and my school-english is far, far away
I saw the V700-R at a local dealer for 400 EUR - I thought it was a good Deal and ordered a unit. Actually i am a Cubase-User, but a read that in Sonar the V700 is good integrated (for example handling the Mic-Pre´s) - but I didnt find anything in the Userguide and i didnt find anything in Sonar by myself. Where can I setup the Preamps in SonarX2?(Trial).
Under Cubase the V700R works fine with the V700R I/O Software.

Furthermore I guess that the fan is a bit noisy - can I exchange the fan without Problems? Maybe Standard-PC-Ware?
Are there any more good and must-to-know-Threads here for the 700R?

Thanks for your answers!

Hi! That was avery good deal!! it sound amazing and will let you make awesome records no doubt about it!

    1. Be sure you have the latest firmware installed

How to check the installed firmware on the VS-700R IO:

    Windows:
    1. Make sure the VS-700R is connected to your computer and the power is on
    2. Click on Start or the Windows Logo in your Task Bar
    3. Navigate to All Programs | VS-700R IO Editor and click on VS-700R IO Editor to launch the application
    4. In the VS-700R IO Editor, click Help | About VS-700R I/O...
    5. The currently installed firmware for your CPU, DSP as well as FANTOM VS will be listed

    Lastest firmware are:

    • The VS-700 CPU/DSP System Program Ver.1.30 or later
    • The VS-700 FANTOM VS System Program Ver.1.30 or later
    • The VS-700C Console System Program Ver.1.31 or later

Once you're ok with this, be sure you have the Fantom/ARX editor installed, in case you want to use the Fantom. If you don't have an ARX card, untick ARX in the installer.

Last, be sure you have installed driver 2.00 and NOT driver 2.01. The latest is for using the vs700r with an updated octa capture only.

And to answer your question loll, granted all the previous steps are ok, the editor for the preamps and the mixer are accessed by clicking this icon:

Hi! Thank you for your answer!
The latest firmware is already onboard. Many thanks for the attached pic - yesterday ive de-installed the X-Trial, because ive read elsewhere, that the preamps can only edited with connected 700C (which I dont own). Now - with your info - I will test it again.
To the fan Ive already read 2-3 Threads in this forum yesterday - it looks like a standard-PC-Fan, but the connector seems different. I will first try to put the 700r in a case, hope the noise will be cancelled. Second I try a new fan by cutting the cord of the fan.

    AHHH!!! I almost forgot!!!!

If you are not using the rack with the console, YOU HAVE to flip dip switch 2 to ON, or the interface WON'T WORK!

Open the ARX slot on top of the rack and you'll see the dip switches.  Be sure to flip the right one :D

Thanx...i got the small switch in the right position and the first test-recording is done.

What about the Preamps? Did anyone get any Problems about the 44db Gain? Maby its a bit to small?

maybe I'm wrong but with the PAD disengaged the preamp already give 20db of gain, so with the gain fader all the way up it gaive about 64db of gain total.

One thing sure, I never lacked gain with my dynamic mics, don't know for ribbon though
