destructive usage of effects doesn't work
hi folks, I'm new to X1 Producer, so maybe I just didn't take the right path. I have an audio track and within this track I tried to transpose a small part - so in this case I have to apply the transpose effect directly to the audio signal (that's what I mean by destructive effect usage). I marked the part of the audio track and tried two different paths: 1) -> modify -> transpose (marked 'transpose audio') = didn't work 2) -> right click on the marked part -> process effect = didn't work even the pre-listen function in the 2nd path didn't work. when I try to apply the effect I get an error msg: directshow error 0x8004022A I didn't find anything about destructive effect processing in the help-files. anyone got a clue? thx

P.S.: just tried again and the error msg doesn't appear any longer - but still effects won't work. the audio track is an imported wave file. its sample rate and bit depth (16/44100) go along with my sonar settings.

It might be worthwhile splitting the clip so that the part to be transposed is a clip of it's own. (Just guessing).

yes. that would be an option. anyway, it worked with sonar3, just wondering why it doesn't in X1

I'm not sure where you're seeing a "Transpose" option for Audio, unless you're going down the grayed out MIDI Effects path. For audio you would want to use Process Effects > Audio Effects > Cakewalk >Pitch Shifter.

@brundlefly: look up to the tabs. in the middle (no5) you'll find 'modify'. mark a part of an audio track, click 'modify', chose 'transpose', check the square next to 'transpose audio'.

Ah, right. Forgot that one had an audio option. And the menu option is "Process" in the English language version. Anyway, as others have indicated that seems to be working in general. Possibly you're trying to use it on a groove-clip? Sonar doesn't like to mix Groove-clipping or Audiosnap with other stretching/pitch change functions.

That does seem to be the most common cause - there should only be one pitch/time process in use at one time on any given clip.

i know this function from my old sonar3. it changes the audio signal in a destructive way and so doesn't use cpu or anything that might block another process. well, i guess I need to do what kalle suggested. @ brundle: no, it's an ordinary audio clip.

p.s.: just learned that it works on mono tracks, not on stereo tracks. same goes for the 'process effect' option after right clicking on the track. weird.

Oh yes. Like V-Vocal, mono only. I missed that side of the thing as mono/stereo didn't pop up. It's not at all weird in pitch-shifting world, more like a rule AFAIK.

That's odd. I tested it on a stereo track, no problem.

yes, it worked with a stereo track in sonar 3. don't know why it doesn't work in X1. maybe it has something to do with the 64bit thingy? also: NONE of the effects works with stereo tracks - not only the pitch shifting ones.
