Recommendations: Good site or book on audio recording, mixing, and mastering?

I think I understand the basics of Sonar X1, but I lack knowledge of the process of audio recording, mixing, and mastering. In searching the internet, it's obvious there's a lot of material available on this subject matter. So, I was hoping for some advice on where to begin. If it makes any difference, I mostly record audio and work minimally with midi. I greatly appreciate your help. Thanks,

On the mixing side I highly recommend the books "Mixing Audio" by Roey Izhaki and "Mixing Secrets" by Mike Senior.

Groove3.com has some good video tutorials on mixing, EQ as well as Sonar specific tutorials.  $15.00 for a month of access, learn at your own pace.

Sonar X1 Power! and Sonar X2 Power! by Scott R. Garrigus books are really helpful with specifics regarding Sonar and recording and mixing.  Lots or tips and helpful suggestions for general recording, mixing and EQ as he discusses the specifics of Sonar.  Great books to have laying around for general reference.

Hearty second to this pair of recommendations.  I'd suggest reading the Senior book first, then the Izhaki.  Plan to read them twice, in fact.  They're even better the second time through.

The Izhaki book is probably best left for when you are comfortable with the basics - a lot of is pretty heavy stuff, especially the chapter on compression. Mike Senior's book is ideal.

Don't forget video tutorials too, the mixing videos on Lynda.com and Groove3 are excellent - I would particularly recommend Brian Lee White's courses on mixing, EQ and compression on Lynda.com.

I greatly appreciate these suggestions, thanks! BTW, I have read (twice, going of thrice) Scott's Sonar X1 Power book, and found it invaluable for learning Sonar.

Thanks, Bob! I appreciate it and I'm glad to hear you're getting so much out of the book. You'll definitely get the most out of it by reading it from cover-to-cover.

I really enjoyed reading THE MIXING ENGINEER'S HANDBOOK by Bobby Owsinski. He also has a Mastering Engineer's Handbook, but I have not read it. Also, Mike Senior's Mixing Secrets For The Small Studio is a great book. Both these books have great tips on how to make better mixes.
    Just my 2 cents,
