Vertical zoom limitations
'ello one and all Is there any way to get around the vertical zoom limitations in either of: Piano roll - the full fat one, not the track PRV (which doesn't have the same limitation) Automation lanes Like an .ini or config file setting or something, or are these hard-coded into the application?

Just curious... what are you finding as a vertical zoom limitation in the PRV? I don't think I've ever used the maximum vertical zoom since it's way to close for me to actually see or do what I need.

Way too close? This is when it's maximized, isn't it? I think it's a perfect size (height) for bass, lead vo, etc.

I could have sworn I've seen notes larger than that... maybe not!

stevec I could have sworn I've seen notes larger than that... maybe not! Me too. I thought I remembered seeing fatter notes when zoomed in. But now that I've just checked, I find that it doesn't zoom in as far as I had thought. I've also compared Sonar 7 with X2 and it's no different. EDIT: Wait a minute. The fat notes that I have seen are in the Drum Grid pane in PRV.

You can get really fat notes in the track view PRV by zooming in vertically, but not in the piano roll. I'd prefer to be able to zoom in further but the application doesn't allow this...yet it does in the PRV...I don't understand why this difference/limitation exists. I'd prefer to work with fatter notes as it makes tasks which involve vertical positioning of the mouse (e.g. setting per-note velocity) much easier. As well as that, I just prefer to use that level of zoom when working across just one or two octaves, I find it easier on the eyes.

Ah... maybe that's what I was thinking of too, or the Inline PRV. It's just really weird not seeing something that you were so sure existed...

Try going into Preferences > Editing and increase the Microscope values as high as they go. That'll increase the size of each note as you hover over it, without having to zoom way out in order for Microscope mode to kick in (with the default values). It's not the same as having all notes displayed larger, but it could help in some cases.
