Changing Direction
Hi, I've not been doing much music recently :-( due to one thing and another but this piece came to me tonight and I thought I'd share it. It's solo piano, it occasionally sounds like I might be trying to break my piano keyboard, and also occasionally sounds like I'm treating it tenderly like the first touch of a long lost lover. (Okay, maybe I'm over-egging the pudding here... it's got loud bits and it's got quiet bits, okay? ;-) ) Hope you enjoy it. https://soundcloud.com/purplerhapsody/changing-direction Cheers, Terry.

Hi Terry, Lots of dynamic in this one ; ) Love it. I would like a bit more space around this, seems a bit strange that you hear no reverb after those loud sections, imho. Rik

Well, it is exactly as you said it was and a nice job at that. Very nice interesting piece with dynamics. Peace and Blessings, John

It's a little beauty and the beast (not in melody but in mood). Someone is leaving someone but for the wrong reason. The wrong reason has to do with some preconceived notion of doing the right thing when in truth, that person tragically has it all wrong. That is why it is sad. Almost foolish in a way. Good job. Thanks Rik, John, and Jimmy! Rik - I did have more reverb originally but thought it lost the overall crispness a piano should have - I'll play about with the reverb levels a bit more because I may have overreacted! Jimmy - great interpretation! Not quite what I envisaged, but fits pretty dang well! Cheers, Terry.

I'm very sorry to say, it won't play... your SoundCloud link opens your page... I see the song and everything looks right but the song will not start playing for me... I tried yesterday, some others will, most wont, I can't even get my own songs on SC to play for me... I'm logged in to SC, and using Windows IE9... I'll keep looking for a solution, and try again...

Glory be... SC actually played your wonderful music for me, this morning, and I just got angry all over again for having to wait so long to enjoy it... It is so refreshing to hear such wide dynamic range in music... it's such a emotional, expressive element that is sadly lacking in a most modern pop... Your performance was wonderful and the production was tops... You are so very talented...Thank you for sharing... BTW, SC's not working for me again this afternoon...

Thanks Walt - glad you enjoyed it. Frank - I listen to some fantastic music that's either all quiet or all turned up to 11 but I just can't do it in my own music... I go through periods of thinking that's a failing but then a comment like yours comes along, kicks me in the rear end, and tells me stop being so stupid. Thanks! :-D And SC is really starting to annoy me with its glitches too - Grrr! Cheers, Terry.

Ok, that sounds like a concert pianist with his or her hair going wild while they bang on the keys. I LOVED the dynamics. IMHO that's the way it should be.
