We don't need no steenkin' beta speculation threads - GENUINE screenshot of SONAR X3!
According to my confidential sources, I'm led to believe that X3 is going to include Melodyne Essential with ARA Integration And that it might look something like this ... If I manage to secure any further leaked information, I'll be sure to post it here Keep it under your hat, and remember, you heard it here first!

And what else? Can we see more than Melodyne and ARA in the photo? I see a new Region Effects menu in the track view and the record button on the control bar has some new lines on it.

That's the optional Suck Suppression control. It records as normal, but filters out all the Suck.

It has a few different modes, depending on how you intend to perform: "Under-rehearsed" ""Half-assed" and "Drunk". Overuse of "drunk" on complex projects can result in audible artefacts.

Dunno if anyone's played around with Melodyne in Studio one, but Celemony's ARA tech takes things a lot further than using it as a plug in can, and a lot further than V-Vocal's integration went. It's high time for Sonar to have that.

What is ARA integration exactly? (Guess I'll probably get that scoop in a matter of hours I would guess). There must be a lot under the hood for X3...the gui hasn't changed much. I'm kind of glad, I like the gui.

Short version: It's like look-ahead processing on steroids. Roughly equivalent to the way you had to convert regular clips into V-Vocal clips, but just a lot better realised. Not being mean about V-Vocal, but it is 8-year-old tech (at least), and inevitably, someone has now done it better.

You can think of ARA/Melodyne as an audio PRV. I've been using it like this since S1 v2 came out and it is a great feature - I can't imagine using Melodyne as a plugin at this point. And FWIW, I've never had to raise the buffers in S1 to use it.

<whew>! This would indeed be a nice change... tho I'm guessing I'll have to take an extra job somewhere so I could afford to upgrade to The full version of Melodyne... Roland created var-phase tech, released it in a box, then released V-Vocal and left it while they went on their' merry way elsewhere... Melodyne is Celemony's pride and joy so I believe it's development will be much continual... Definitely a plus for X3! Keni

Just a thought... I know that in another thread it was mentioned that if V-Vocal is no longer bundled, it will continue to work in X3 if you already have it... I'm hoping that's true as it would be a pain to be forced to complete all current works with X2 if X3 is out and truly improved! As it was explained to be simply a plugin that has a bit different method of integration with Sonar, so I'm guessing that it simply calls the plugin when the command is given... Easy enuf to support that as backward compatibility support...? Hope so... I'd hate to find myself re-doing all my V-Vocal edits in Melodyne (or anywhere for that matter)... ;-) Keni
