I've wanted this for ages but couldn't justify the price, so this is a wonderful offer. I'm a little confused by the purchase though. Musicians Friend apparently want to ship this to my address. There is no mention anywhere of a download and the purchase confirmation email they sent said that it was being shipped. This will be the first time I will have been shipped an effect.

Yup...why they have to ship it is a mystery to me too. And I bet the box just has a serial number in it anyway and it will still be a download.

Yep - I just bought it too. I bought a couple of Sugar-Bytes plugs a few weeks ago from MF - same thing - serial number in a box with a printed link to get the plug. What a deal for Ohmicide though.

LOL - "A better way to think of it might be as the plug-in equivalent of the most evil stompbox distortion ever devised" Made me chuckle....

Ohmicide came in the mail today and, natch, was just a box, a serial number and some instructions. I've been trying to open an account at Ohmforce but so far it's no go. Anyone else have trouble on their site????

For a discount as deep as the one for this deal, I often just buy an effect unauditioned. Fortunately I downloaded a demo of Omicide a few months ago after some folks were raving about it here. I was somewhat impressed with the sound but totally hated the GUI ... one of the worst I have ever encountered. In what is an uncharacteristic move for me, I'll be passing on this one.

Dmbaer Appreciate your link to the KRV auction. Regarding Omicide, may be a blasphemer here, but do not like it. Cool unit, but not convincing enough to purchase it. The price is good if this fits your workflow, but the thing does not breathe or render credible progressive wave clipping for my benchmark. Just me. Many many eq variations and resonance overdrives on the central theme and cool sounds. Neat stuff, but sticking with other units for now that do the job better. Still a good buy for a nice distortion box and appreciate the company offering a deep discount, but passing this also. John

Presets are fairly non-intuitive. Can't seem to find or load any. "Banks" however can be easily found...but not easily incorporated into projects. All of which is distressing as this thing sounds great!!!

Mine's still on it's way (hopefully tomorrow). Might as well read the manual while I'm waiting......since it looks like it may take a bit of work to get things going. I also can't figure out why they need to ship the box out. The price is $29, MF has to pay for the shipping ($4-$5?), and then we still have to download the product. Maybe MF had all these boxed licenses in their wherehouse which they wanted/had/needed to get rid of?

I wish I'd never ordered the damn thing now. The package went to the post office because they couldn't deliver it and I'm currently standing in line to pick it up. I've been waiting 45 minutes. There's 7 people ahead of me and it takes the USPS doofus approximately 5 minutes to locate each package. When I pick stuff up at UPS or Fed Ex, it takes them about 30 seconds. Good God they need to close this whole institution down.

Geez... Outside all the delivery problems, I feel like some distortion snob in the face of all the good reviews. Downloaded the demo again to get a clue, and maybe Ol Pal's advice to search the banks is where it's at. Only played with it for about 30 minutes total. The eq, gain and compression qualities are good. I can't bridge the gap though from clean to square wave with any progressive ramp or subtle response. This is likely my isolated misfit with the program because I play on the border of clean to overdrive, and never got into (or mastered) the shred motif. Ohmicide does shred excellent. Taking it on advice that the magic is there, just haven't found it yet. Clueless in Oregon, John

Nah...you're not clueless. I have this in my "manglers" VST folder. It's great for adding odd distortion textures to various instruments...not unlike Saturn or Decapitator or Decimator. Just another color in the coloring box. One mans distortion is another mans mangling. YMMV:-)

I take it you found the selection of banks in the installation directory? There are a quite a lot in there. I'm presuming those banks are collections of 12 presets each? I've found some really good sounds in there, although they're probably more suited more to electronic styles than anything else. Yes a lot of them are pretty extreme, but you can always back it off with the wet/dry knob. I think it sounds great, perfect for giving a part that little edge that makes it stand out in the mix. I agree though, the preset system is terrible, I would have much preferred a more conventional browser system. I can't really see myself needing to work with banks.

Of those who bought this in the recent offer, how are you getting along with it? I've ignored mine for a while because I haven't had the time to sit down and learn it and what sounds I did hear from it sounded a little extreme for my tastes. However I've been sitting down with it tonight and I'm loving it! I have found it works best as a send effect, just blend a little in with the dry signal. I think I'm finally coming to terms with what all the knobs or for although I've yet to read the manual....wow you can get some really nice sounds out of this thing. Try muting all bands except the highest and fizzing up those highs a little...magic!

Word of warning - avoid the distortion setting "clicks." It will make intermittent clicking noises even when the transport isn't engaged, and drive you nuts. I thought something was screwed in Sonar until I realized it was Ohmicide.
