Pan Law question for RME users

I notice that there is a pan law setting in the RME preferences that defaults to -6db. Shoul I leave that alone? I have been setting the pan law in Sonar and I'm wondering if having it set both places could cause problems with the mix later.

    I set RME, DAWS & any software so that they all use the same pan law.

    Really, it's a different environment, so you should pick what you want for what you're doing with it.
     
    When I listen to mixes made in Sonar through the RME, it doesn't matter what the pan law in RME is because the mix is straight stereo panned center.
     
    When I'm mixing a show using total mix while recording it, then the RME Pan Law will be in play as I pan things left and right and center. So... Set it for what you want it to be in that case.
     
    Does this help? The RME Pan law should have 0 effect when listening to a pair of stereo outs from Sonar.

    Thanks that answers my question.  I was afraid the pan law was applied twice.
