I think I goofed

I bought a cellular phone last week, and wanted to put some music on it. According to the skimpy "manual", I can add music from the internet or from a micro SD card. The phone did not come with a card.
I also have a Samsung digital HD video camera which does have a micro SD card in it.
So I took it out of the camera, put it in it's SD adapter and plugged it into the computer to try and move some mp3 files to it. Got a "disk is protected" message and it wouldn't take the files.
Gave up and put it back in the camera.
Now the camera tells me the card is not supported.
Fortunately, all the video I have on it has already been transferred to the computer.
Oh, well. Time to hit BB. It's unlikely my store has the things, but I'll look there, too.

The camera's manual is also lacking in information about the SD card.

Swapping the card to a different device may have messed up the formatting. I'm sure Ed has it sorted by now.

Try reformatting in the camera.  I'd imagine there's some utility to do that.

A new micro Sd card worked. Just a $9.88 goof.
Now, what to do with the old one?
    How can it be reformatted?

You could try putting it in your PC and try to format it there if you have one of those interfaces.  They're pretty cheap, too.

I got one of those pocket music players and a larger micro SD cards(16 gig, I think).  I've been dragging wave files onto it and they play great on the unit.  I think the card is only half full.  I love not having to convert to MP3.

So, I put it in the adapter and plugged it in. Immediately got a 'disk needs to be formatted in order to use it' message and asked if I want to format it now. Clicked yes, warned that all files will be deleted aduring the reformat, clicked okay.
Then a message that the disk is copy-protected and it can't do it.
After a few more tries, I don't get the copy-protected message, just a 'Windows can't reformat the disk' message.
    That's progress, right?

There's a little switch on the edge of the card.  If it's moved towards the contacts, it's copy protected.  Try sliding it away from the contacts and it should work.

But what if you haven't loaded any contacts into the phone yet?

These don't have a switch, just a tab where the switch would be.

I'm thinking 12 seconds with a Dremel and a grinding wheel should be sufficient.
