Cakewalk No Longer Supports V Studio 700?

I was sending an email to Cake asking if X3 would support V700. Unfortunately, the support page says that Cake no longer supports the system and "Roland" is our support. Hmm...  Is this new or part of the changes?

In fact, CW has been referring people with V-x support questions to Roland for about a month now. On the KB site it gives Roland's web addy as a resource.

Back then I thought that it was funny that a Roland company would send it's own customers to it's own other web site for support.

    Makes total sense now.

It has been a while since I have posted, but I have been watching and personally I think that It is pretty bad that
Cake did not man up and let us 700 owners know what was going on.   NOT HAPPY and VERY DISAPPOINTED!!

Official support for v700 has been via Roland for a couple of years. This isn't new.

I know that...But trying to get Cake to comment on software support for V-Studio 700 is like pulling teeth, but they claim they are, but not in the X3 edition.

It's been way more than a month Grem. Ever since the transition occurred and the cakewalk team went to work at Roland.

I didn't know it was that long! I just picked up a VS 100 about a month or two ago and started looking at the support in case I needed it.

Still I find this thing a great CS and audio device. It's just such a shame they just let them fall to the wayside like this.

Has someone tried the new X3 with VS 700 ? Is everything reacting well (at least like in X2)? If it's not the case, I don't see the interest to get X3 !

We didn't drop support for the VS-700. The SONAR X3 installer still installs the components and we did not remove any functionality. I do know this is not an area we focused on with this release however, so I would expect the same functionality as SONAR X2a.

well, this is a disappointment ...

So they've done nothing and hoping all still works??? Yeah, right ... I don't think software development works like that

Although some of the new X3 features seem nice, I won't be the first to purchase and test X3 with the VS-700. Will continue to work with X2a and make my mind up later.

Does anybody know what is included in the 100+ tweaks? I can't find a list anywhere ...

    Fixes and Enhancements

    Pure refinement.

SONAR X3 includes over a hundred finely tuned tweaks, little enhancements and general improvements throughout, inspired by customer feedback, making it the most refined and solid version of SONAR yet.

    Hmmm....finally an outcome of sorts.

Finally a verdict on 'tight integration'....

Not sure on buying the upgrade this time around...need to consider long term options which may include waiting to see what/if the new version of Cake decide to release for hardware options. Maybe Fender will buy them out next...

X3 does have some nice touches it seems. Shame they've dropped 700C development..and not bothered to actually tell us.

yeah the "not bothered to tell us" part is why I'm frustrated to write here the since X1.  Maybe they're pushed on all side themselves since x1?

An open editor ala Nucleus could be all we need from the beginning anyway...

Yeah, it looks like the best hope. I see it has spawned a new thread here, probably a good idea.
