VS 700C control surface and X3

Anyone tried X3 with their VS700C control surface yet? Just wondering if it worked about the same as it did with X2 or there were any improvements? (or digression). I love the new color options and a couple of other major improvements in X3, but I'm hesitant to make the jump if my VS700C control surface fails to work. I can live with it only working for basic stuff, as it hasn't worked properly since my most reliable software to date - Producer 8.5.3 - but it's better than doing everything with a mouse or investing in another control surface.
