Sonar X3 with Addictive Drums - everything you need - Template,Maps etc (Link fixed)
http://ge.tt/4mjHdSt/v/0 Just rustled this lot up for you, I hope this helps you all and saves time, or spreads a little learning, as I have also included a complete run down, How too, with tips. Zip Includes: 1_Track Template with all audio outs, (you can then add this to a folder, Track templates can not be saved with folder) 2_Drum Map (with drum names, drum hit types associated with Addictive Drums) I have arranged these to my liking, but remember you can drag and re-order as you like. 3_Step sequencer starting pattern 4_Track Icon. For those newbies etc. Have missed a couple of things off the notes I think, but presuming you will figure out how to load up a drum map once I have directed you to drum map manager if need and the map has not loaded up with the track template, although the drum map should be saved with the track template, I have instructed how to get up a step sequencer, where I mention about adding a note to the piano roll then right clicking the Clip/event it just created to turn it to a steps sequencer pattern, from the sequencer you can load up the starting step sequencer pattern I included, you should have put in the correct folder. Have fun. An additional note regarding the step sequencer starting pattern, you will notice I have all the first hits filled and all muted less the kick and snare, as when you save a sequencer pattern if these are not filled, it will only open with the step lines that have hits on them showing, a bit annoying this for obvious reasons when you want to open up a existing pattern and create new ones from it, you have to set the missing ones up again. just one improvement of a few I can think off that is needed for improving the step sequencer. New notes 8th OctoberI have discovered I will have to update the Drum map and sequencer starting pattern their are a few hits missing and I am guessing these maybe on another midi channel, these hits show up in the map window in addictive drums but where not present when I play the keys on the current midi channel so they where easy to miss, I will have to look into this although these look like they are only hit variations to what you do have setup in the drum maps etc , so it should not overly affect anything outright, will look into this over the next couple of days.

Trying to use "get it", but it is not uploading my file, although it worked for me in past, may be a browser issue. anybody else know of a free and safe site to share a small zip via an online link without any pop ups, spam etc, failing that if your desperate I can send a link to your email inbox if you want to message me, will pick it up when I can, just bare in mind I am in the UK, so deferent time zone, so cant promise it will be straight away plus I have stuff to do, but will check my messages as much as I can.

AudioSynth, In your downloaded files there is a documentation link / download... Something like that. ANyway, there is one document that talks about getting Addictive Drums. It's a bit light on the instructions but basically, you go to the addictive drums website, you create an account, you download their install application. Once that is installed you tell it you want to download the Addictive Drums app. You will need to provide the serial number that should be showing at the cakewalk store.

Your welcome Steve, I know what's its like to have to go through the whole rigmarole, over and over and not getting it right, or then naming all the drums etc , can be time consuming, frustrating and tedious, but I have done it that many times now, I can fly thru it to a certain extent, took me a very long to be able to do it, without giving up on it. So its nice to help, that being reward in itself knowing those that may not have the time or be able to figure it out are now good to go and make music, that is what its all about the music and joy , I hate all the petty bickering that happens and can ruin the vibe on a forum, Clouding the mutual bond we all have and also the personal reasons why we are all here and doing this in the first place, so again thanks for the thanks I appreciate that from you and others, it feels good to share :) Enough Cheese said ! lol, just to let everyone else know, I Will bump this now and again for a few weeks until its been seen enough, if it starts to get lost down the line so to speak. Also if their is anything I have missed or you fail to get, just post your question and I or no doubt others will chime in with the answer.

First off, THANK YOU, Subjacent, for putting this together. Incredibly kind of you, and it's been quite helpful to me as I learn to use X3 with Addictive Drums. Just a couple questions, though, and please pardon any "newbie-ness" to any of these. I am fairly new to midi in general and am trying hard to learn quickly. I downloaded your files and noticed that in your track template, Addictive Drums comes up with the "All Synth Audio Outputs to Stereo" apparently having been selected, where the kick/snare are grouped, etc. On the AD page, when they explain how to add AD with multiple outs, they say, "Make sure 'All Synth Outputs to Mono' is checked." Doing that seems to put each kit piece on its own track, albeit mono. I'm just curious why you did it the way you did it and if/why that's a preference to have pieces grouped on a stereo track. Does having kit pieces grouped on a stereo track mean that I don't have individual control over each piece? Just a little confused over that and would like to understand it a little better. Secondly (and lastly), in experimenting, I added AD the way their site explained it (with the mono outs). I then tried to add your drum map to the track, but when I did that, there was suddenly no sound. I'm totally sure this is the result of some ignorance on my part related to drum maps and how to use them, but I was wondering if you or someone could explain what was happening there. Thanks again for your help!

You are indeed wright, it is better to have all hits on their own output channel, now you point that out i will look into it, the way it is setup is how sonar interpreted the outputs not myself, so i presumed this was show they had intended as strange as it seemed, but if it gives the option for mono as you say then best to set it up that way, been a little ill over the last week or two, but will look into this as well as another issue i have noticed sometime before weekend, and add this amended template/map.

Thanks for the clarification, Subjacent. Was just curious about the different methods. Yeah, the AD site says to select the "All outputs as mono" selection from the soft synth dialog box that appears when you're adding AD. Thanks, though, for all the work. This post in particular really helped me understand a lot. Hope you feel better!
