The mix is coming over very toppy here with a lot of background noise in the opening bars.  It is quite hot as well.

Having said that the tune works well and I am sure a tweak or two here and there in the mix would resolve these things.

Thanks for sharing.

Pedro, this is a fine song with good performances all around.  It's panned just right, and the acoustic is good and bright.  I think I heard one small pitch issue with the harmony vocals, but ever so slight.  It is very bright overall, and the dynamics could offer a bit more depth, but all in all, this has much potential with a few tweaks.

All the best,
Lynn

Thanks Lynn for your feedback!

I did a 3.5db shelf boost on the high freq´s, and maybe it was fine as it was.... i´ll give it a shot and work a bit more on the master fader EQ.

Every feedback is extremely useful, so keep them coming!!

See you soon,
Pedro

I love your voice, although some of your background harmonies could use some pitch correction (and possibly reduce the bottom end EQ on the harmonies to make them compete less with the lead vocal).  I love your instrument performances as well.  You are a very good player.  And the song itself is very groovy!  Your melodies are powerful, transitions are well done, and the progression is strong.  This song could be entered into a song-writing contest and do very well.  You are a fantastic songwriter.

That being said, I think the acoustic rhythm guitar is over-compressed.  And I think you're using a bit too much compression/limiting over the whole mix during mastering.  Everything is very "hot", but IMO a bit too much so.

Overall great work, that can be improved to be even better.

The guitar, drums (minus the kick) and vocals sound thin and scratchy.  If you're using low shelf EQ to get rid of low end, I don't often go any lower than 200 hz.  I'd also ditch the brightening with EQ as an experiment.  The mix is generally over-compressed and the result is a mix that makes me feel uncomfortable.

A couple of tweaks should get you there.  Good song,

Pedro,

First off, welcome to the forum and hope you enjoyed listening to others music so you can now post yours. Everyone here is always willing to be helpful where we can, as fellow forum members.

As to this song, that kick drum is to loud and up front to much. The guitar could use some warmth added to it. The vocals seem to be O.K. but maybe could use a bit of reverb, chorus or delay, not quit sure. You might try to equal every thing out a bit and the panning IMO could use some adjusting so there is more separation to each track, as some seem to be pretty tight to each other, but that could be just me and my preferences. The over all song is pretty nicely done, but I would loose the first 17 seconds of the song, it just do anything for the song at all, IMO.

That being said, great start to something even better. Just a few tweaks and your there.

Peace and Blessings, John

Welcome Pedro. This is a great song! Not beat a dead horse but my take on this is that the EQ in the midranges is a bit harsh. Probably compression and EQ issues. An easy fix.

I really liked the string plucks toward the end and how you wove the ending together. Sounds very "new country". Your vocals are good. One thing I would do differently IIWM is I would either retake some of the harmonies or I would use something like Melodyne to make corrections. I noticed one or two places where the harmony vocal was slightly flat. Although I like the idea of panning vocals sometimes, in this case I would merge the background vocals closer to the middle to give a more cohesive feeling to the vocal. That way any small imperfections are much less noticable and the vocals sound more unified. This is purely an artistic decision, IMO I would probably do away with some of the extra vocals altogether. It sounds great with just your voice in most places.

You know, the problem with so many different people listening on so many different systems is that they hear things differently.  I try to use my headphones on every song so I at least have a point of reference that is the same on every song.  So.... I do agree that the piano was way too bright.  I loved your vocal when it came in but still heard the overall brightness.  When all the music was in and the keys weren't the main instrument the mix levelled out for me.  I think you have a great voice and that with a few tweeks, this will be even better, expecially in the opening measures.  I too welcome you to the forum.  I looke forward to hearing more of your music.

Excellent song and the second mix is well done. You lost a little "presence" between the first and second mix, but the first was way too harsh. Nice job overall!
