A couple of TH2 Producer questions

First off, I'm actually enjoying TH2 in X3, I couldn't get on with at all in X2.  Has it got 'extra stuff' this time around?

One problem I've noticed is that the Input Level Adjustment screen seems not to work at all.  I've definitely got decent input level, but this screen always shows nothing.  Is it working for anybody else?

Finally, is there an upgrade path from the X3 version to the full fat one?

TIA :-)

Currently there is no upgrade offered. Start saving for the holidays. There will probably by all kinds of upgrade specials at that time.

I meant by overloud, is that what you meant?  I should have been more specific :-)

Yes that is what I understood you to mean. TH2 Producer to TH2 Full is not available at the CW store at this time (at least I could not find it). Around the holidays last year there were a variety of upgrades including the TH2 Full upgrade and other bundles of Overloud products at very competitive prices.

FWIW, v2.2.3 64bit TH2 Producer in X2, the Input Level Adjustment screen works as advertised. I do not have X3 installed so I cannot comment about it's function.

I bought the TH2 full version after using the producer version. It has become my go-to amp sim. The full version has a couple of Brunetti amps that are absolutely amazing! Tons of FX! Worth every cent. There will probably be a sale during the holidays. GET IT! I've got Amplitube and Guitar Rig 4. TH2 eats them alive!

The Full upgrade and the Mark Studio 2 (Overloud's Bass ampsim) bundle is a pretty good package.

Not quite what I meant, I meant at Overloud's website.  Do they offer an upgrade path?  I've fired off an email to them now so will check my mail tomorrow to see what they have to say.

No, I could find no reference to it at their site either (I checked before my first post). IIRC, the upgrade from TH2 Producer to TH2 Full, when available, has only been offered at the CW store. Maybe with the new release, it will appear again.

I'm pretty sure they will offer an upgrade special. Most anyone that uses the Producer version ends up getting the upgrade somehow.

You can always e-mail Overloud, they will tell you if they have a deal, and maybe make you one if you ask.

Yeah, that's what I did.  I'll update this thread when they get back to me.

Can somebody check the Input Level Adjustment screen btw, is it working for others?  Not working at all here.

Thanks - let us know.  I too have been using the one in X2a and have been wanting to upgrade (missed the initial offer).

Although the full version is WELL worth the money for most common styles I found I was able to dial up a good tone with the Producer version rather easily unlike with GR4 Sonar. I found GR4 Sonar to be next to useless for what I was doing. It had some okay rock sounds but I could never get MY tone(s) out of it so I upped to GR5 which was a lot better but still not nearly as good as TH2 IMO.

So I'd say even if you have to wait a little bit for an offer through the Cake store poke around at TH2 Producer. It's likely you'll be able to get where you want unless you are looking to do some crazy out there effects. Also we got a bunch of free presets last winter. Not sure if those got dumped right into the current version or if even still available but you might want to check your account or get a hold of Cake/Overloud to see if they are available.

    Cheers.

Just curious... is this just in one project or is it consistent? Like are you using it in an old X2 project? And not to be a RTFM guy but I found that there are a ton of little (and some BIG) not so obvious things about TH2 that are revealed in the manual. It's not a very long read but because TH2 is kind of... uh, "different" than anything I've ever seen in regards to layout and operation it is very worthwhile going through everything and testing it all out.

Might be some kind of routing thing going on or a button is disabled somewhere. I seem to recall having something similar happen when I first tried it but I totally forget. Cheers.

Haven't checked it yet, I got carried away trying to get some joy out of a Line 6 HD400 which I bought recently.  That thing is going back to the shop!  It's worse than my years-old POD 2 and its own firmware upgrade has borked it.

Regarding Overloud/TH2 Producer, I'm in a slightly difficult spot now but suffice to say good news is on the horizon.

I got an HD500 this past summer. It does a pretty good job on it's own. What's hilarious is now most of the time it serves as a midi controller for TH2 installed on a laptop! LOL!

Sonar Platinum, Sonar X3e, Sonar X2a , Sonar X1 Expanded and 8.5.3 (32 and 64 bit), Windows 10 on a Toshiba P75-A7200 Laptop with i7 @ 2.4 quad and 8 gigs of RAM and secondary WD 1 Tb drive, Windows 10 desktop, Asus i5 @ 3.2 quad, 12 gigs RAM, 1 Tb drive, 1 500 gig drive, MOTU 24io, 2 Roland Studio Captures, Saffire 6 USB for laptop, Soundtracs Topaz Project 8 mixer, Alesis Monitor 2s, Event BAS 20/20s, Roland Micro-Monitor BA-8s, and 45 years worth of collecting FX, Mics, Amps, Guitars, and Keyboards!

Well, the HD400 was collected today free of charge (GAK's customer service really is tops, I definitely recommend those guys if you're in the UK) and best of all the Input Level Adjustment window in TH2 Producer is working! :-)

Sorry you didn't like HD400. I still haven't scratched the surface on this HD500. I tend to use more bread and butter classic rock, country and jazz sounds so it works pretty well for me. I do love using it as the controller for TH2! I'm glad to hear your Level Adjustment issue has been resolved. Now, go play your guitar! LOL

Just curious... what got it working again?

As far as Line 6 stuff I only have one experience with their gear and that's my Line6 Duoverb head. From what I understand this was a pretty early release from their company. I bought it to gig with because I had destroyed yet another one of my heads and got it pretty cheap on ebay but it always gacked out at stage volume. No idea why. Just... it would crackle a bit then totally stop responding. It should have been powerful enough to run my cabs but it wasn't so it got relegated to studio duty for which it's pretty darned convenient. Most of the sims on it are pretty cheesy and weak BUT with all the crazy i/o stuff on it it's great for tracking. It has two channels that can be independent or blended into each other (two amps at once basically and I keep them separate, not blended) which can be sent out in stereo through line out or 2 XLR outputs. I use the XLR outs to record two tracks each with a slightly different amp/EQ set up. Then I can pan those in the DAW without phase issues (if I do it right).

But the sims are very old tech so anything beyond using the cleaner models doesn't sound very good. I just toss my software sim(s) on the tracks and work that way or if I want to get my old metal sound I put a stompbox in front of the amp head to record the distortion destructively.
