Help! Can't keep up with the forum...
It's all gone a bit mad around here (in a good way). Do people think it's worth introducing a few sub-categories to the X Series forum?

That's a +100 here... I'm actually about to take the dive into X3 a little earlier than planned so have been trying to keep up with the posts and everyone's progress. This is the busiest I can remember this forum being in a long time - busier than when X2 came out going from memory, and perhaps similar to X1... though with a slightly different consensus as far as stability and features goes.

Heck I can get use to the way its going here. So far X3 is looking very good indeed. The forum is reflecting that rather well. I also like the CW people being here. It really helps. What I really like are seeing so many friends here having a good time.

I am happy with the busyness here. I too, am reading that X3 is popular and am planning on upgrading from X1d, but it will be a while. I have two current clients and don't want to change in the middle of that. I suppose I could install X3 beside X1 and play with it. Sorry for the OT. Tom

I was sitting on the fence about purchasing X3 but with all of the good reviews, that fact that Craig is here plus the fact that CW is here and already talking about X3b and X3c updates I’m gonna jump in this weekend. It sounds like things have turned to the good for CW!

Sub-categories is a great idea. Maybe one specifically for "how do I..." types of posts.

You can install X3 along side X1 (I've got X2 and X3 currently installed). That'll give you a chance to get up-to-speed with the changes in X3... without disturbing your current projects/clients.

I only have one project right now and it's about 90% complete, but I'll be installing side-by-side too... as always. I'll probably back up my X2 shared folders too just as a precaution since AFAIK everything else would be independent. Safety first!

ston...sub-categories to the X Series forum...
Some categories spring to mind: 1. I'm stuck and need advice on how to use the software. 2. I don't like the way some particular feature works and maybe there is a better way that it could be implemented. 3. I think I may have found a bug and wonder if anyone else can confirm this. 4. Here's a heads-up about some technique that I have learned/discovered. 5. My problem/comment is not specifically Sonar-related, but I wanted to post it here anyway.

A sub category for those of us currently using Sonar (or interested in doing so) for creating/editing audio for film would be outstanding.

Whilst this is a good idea in theory, it needs to be carefully weighed up as there could be overlap with other forums, such as Techniques / Hardware etc.

Because the Sonar forum is so busy, I haven't had time to look at some of the other forums but after your post I looked at "Techniques". The threads I seen were unrelated to Sonar (i.e. miking a flute). So if there were subcategories for Sonar that were only for Sonar techniques (i.e. getting the most from Melodyne in Sonar X3) I think that might work. Walt

John I like it the way it is.
At this point... me too. The posts are constant but most of them (for me) are well worth reading. Although for newer users it could be a bit much. So if X3 (and beyond) were to continue generating this type of volume, then that might be good reason to add a few sub-forums. Wouldn't that be nice...

There's two thing I agree on here. 1) I like it too, it's all very positive 2) The dust will settle. I'm not so sure about sub forums as that could possibly dilute the help available by the good folks that frequent the forum.. I could be wrong. You can subscribe to threads

It won't continue like this so hopefully there will be just two X series sub-forum categories: 1. Everything, except for... 2. Feature Request (new!)

The only potential problem I can see is posts on the bug or feature request subforum that aren't actually bugs or feature requests. It's likely to happen.

Having digested all of the above, what about this for an idea: No sub-forums, but... The poster (OP) can tag (categorise) a thread. A reader can subscribe to a thread and (maybe) also add a personal tag. Anybody can then filter based on tag (OP|personal) &/or subscription. Might need a tweak or two to the forum software but that could be a away of quickly finding/revisiting the threads (or type of thread) you're interested in. If you like the forums just as they are, you'd simply never filter.
