Sonar X3e Bouncing /Auto-Save Now Much Slower. Help!

Hi there,

I'm using Sonar X3e on a Windows 7 PC with 24 gigs of RAM and a Firewire-connected Fireface UCX. I recently switched the Fireface from 44.1 and 16 bit to 48/24, and now bouncing comped vocal tracks is much slower. I've tried bouncing with Track FX, 64-bit engine, FX/Synth automation, bus automation all off and on, and they make little difference. I also adjusted the BounceBufSizeMsec from zero to 350, to little avail. Auto-saves of the program are slower as well.

Any ideas on how to remedy this?

Thanks,

Ed

    Hi there,

Well that was interesting -- after doing some experimenting, when I first selected the top (comped) layer of a track with lots of takes, and then bounced *that* the bounce to a new track goes *much* more quickly, even if it's the length of an entire four-minute song. Is it a case of having all those take layers that need to be glued together when bouncing a comped track to another? Is there a better way of merging a comp into a single track without losing the previous takes, in case I want to futz with them again, or use them to create another chorus, or something similar?

    Thanks,
