Why does spacebar not stop recording
When I record for like an hour just looping a song laying down take after take (just played 25 or so) when I stop and hit the spacebar on the keyboard Sonar isn't stopping. Happens in X2 and X3. I should just touch the screen but I usually just slap the keyboard and then have to do something else.
Anyone have an idea why the spacebar doesn't work only after a lengthy record? It's like the app loses focus or something.

I have had that happen, but can't remember why, as it was long ago.
Did you click the mouse on anything else since since 'Recording', because that might have changed focus?

Yes, this happens to me as well..... I have found that if I do a CONTROL S (for save), that the space bar starts to work again. Don't know why but it happens to me all the time during lengthly work sessions using the PRV mode.

I've had that happen on all versions of Sonar. But, as far as I can tell I have done something else that caused it and a fault of Sonar.

Check you don't have a 32-bit (bit-bridge wrapped) plug-in in focus. If so, it will prevent the space bar keystroke getting back to Sonar.

Yah, I don't have anything else in focus. Nothing 32 bit. I hit R to start recording. I wonder if AutoSave does it. ?? not sure. or some background process like that.
I just need to train myself to touch stop on the screen instead. Not a big deal. It's nice to know the problem is common.

Autosave won't kick in until the transport is stopped, so I don't think it's that.

A windows toast message will do this, when they are triggered by other apps or the OS.
Examples:
- your email program is set to pop up a toast message when a message comes in
- a windows update notification will steal the app's focus
- adobe (or any other windows service-based updater) decides to check for an update, that resulted in a notification
- 3rd party stuff that installs tools into the system tray (AMD/NVida/Realtek "helper" utilities for example) can also send notifications.

I also think it is because something causes Sonar to loose focus. To test, next time it happens click the header in Sonar to make sure it has focus then try the space bar.
