X3 and Superior Drummer 2

Hi
I am having some problems and could do with a little help please....

I will keep it simple.
I am trying to get SD2 to playback in X3.  I have  put in multi tracks and can see movement in the bars but I have no output..
I have sound when I play  the groove solely through SD2.
I know it is something to do with in's and out's but cant get anything out at all.
When I drag a groove across to just one audio track hey it works but multi track not a thing...I have tried Addictive drums and I have the same problems so it must be me...
Please someone point me in the right direction.

Cheers

    Hi
Figured out what I was doing wrong....
    Stupid me.

Dragging the grove to the wrong track.  Should be the one with the midi plug showing right?

    It is working so happy.....

Over the past couple days I used both Addictive Drums and Superior Drummer 2 in a song to get a comparion. I do like SD2 better but that's another story.

Here's a step-by-step process that I used for SD2. Mostly applies to both programs.

    1. Click Insert/Soft Synth/VST2/Toontrack/Superior Drummer2
    2. "Insert Soft Synth Options" menu appears.
    3. Click on "MIDI Source", "Synth Track Folder", "All Synth Audio Outputs Mono"
    4. Click "OK"
    5. Your MIDI data should of course go in the MIDI track. (I already had a MIDI track in AD so I just copied that. Both drums were Mapped with GM Extended.
    6.  Open the SD2 interface.
    7. Select your kit.
    8. Click on "Mixer".
    9. At the output row select the output where you want each of the channels to go to. Make sure you select "Multi Channel" first.
    10. Since I wanted to do all my mixing on the SONAR panel, I  set all the Faders to 0 dB, and pans to center.
    11. For each of the channels on the mixer, select the same input (i.e. Superior Drummer 2 1 /1/2:Left Mono) as you did on the SD2 Mixer out.

Hope this works for you. If more experienced users see a better way or if I missed something I'd appreciate input since I'm still learning.

Correct. SD2 patterns are MIDI files and need to be dragged to the MIDI track pointing at Session Drummer. Good work figuring it out.

A couple of other things you should be aware of:

    1. There is some indexing issue with the SD pattern matrix such that dragging from SD to a track may give you the wrong MIDI file with a slightly different version of the pattern. If it sounds different when played from the MIDI track, check the file name associated with the pattern letter in SD.

    2. Make sure to disable the Play button in SD and/or unload the pattern(s) so that you don't end up with both the MIDI track and Session drummer's internal pattern player running together when you hit Play in SONAR.

I was very happy to find out that tracktemplates work really well for SD2 kind of instrument.
7 stereo outs - kick, snare, hihat, toms, overhead, ambience, and near character miking.

Routed all the outs to a bus - to get a single fader for Drums.
Made a track folder on the tracks to make them go away when not needing to be visible.
    Name everything nicely.

Then when saving as template - remember to select folder+all tracks in folder and the bus as well.

You never have to redo this process again - just insert track template, and all set.
