National Geographic '125 Years' Anniversary Pack is incredible.

I subscribed to National Geographic for about five years back in the 80's, and ever since I've continued to buy the odd issue now and then if they have something of interest to me.

My main reason for subscribing back then was that it coincided with my burgeoning interest in photography, and I don't think there are (or have been) many publications that consistently print images of such incredible quality.

To anyone with even the slightest interest in the photography of the natural world (either like myself as an active participant, or those who enjoy looking at these images), this 125 Years Anniversary Pack is an absolute must-have.

Inside the pack:
  • Special 125th Anniversary Issue of National Geographic: The Photo Issue
  • A Collector's Edition: 100 Secret Journeys
  • 2-in-1 DVD:
    • Secrets of the Titanic
    • In Search of the Afghan Girl
  • 2-Sided Anniversary Poster:
    • National Geographic Society's very first general reference map
    • Montage - collection of the best National Geographic covers since 1888

Cool stuff Steve. NG was my inspiration for getting into nature photography also. Back in my road pirate days, my bandmates gave me endless grief for getting up early and roaming around the country side with my old Minolta Maxxum 35mm film camera. We toured mostly in the western US and Canada. Some great scenery.

When I was a toddler my mom used to drink coffee and chat with Mrs. Grosvenor at their Miami house.

Mom said she would call with an invitation and if mom said she was a busy with me the reply would be "bring the little bastard over and we'll tie him to a tree".

I've always had a warm place in my heart for Nat Geo.

    Best regards,

Mum and Dad held a subscription for years for the benefit of us kids. There was one issue that I remember (apart from the obvious ones like the eagle hologram and the full cover hologram- with mcdonalds ad) which was the high speed photography of Harold Edgerton. You camera guys should check out his work.

When we lost the house in Denver, I left behind forty years of National Geographic.
It's funny.  Losing the house was hard, but walking away from that glorious yellow wall was heart wrenching.
I grew up with those photos and adventures.
Thanks for the heads up, Steve. I may have to check this out.
