Essential recommended plug-ins?

Apologies if this has been beaten already. The search function on the forum...I guess I don't know how to use it efficiently...
Anyway - I'm running Sonar X2 Studio. It's my first jump into digital recording and I'm feeling the limitations of the included Sonitus suite.
What basic, versatile, plug-ins are you guys finding useful for reverbs (I'm running Studio - remember ;)  ) delays, compressors - yes I'm seriously considering the Cakewalk LA2A...or whatever it's called  :P   .
EQ's,   etc.
Simply put, a basic toolkit of stuff that gets along with Cakewalk. Thanks!

There isn't really much that's literally "essential" that you don't already have. I can't imagine what limitations you might have encountered with the Sonitus suite, which will in fact do everything you truly need, even if the plugins aren't as sexy as many newer ones. That includes the reverb, which is serviceable and full-featured.

That said, for reverbs I think you'll find I'm not alone in recommending ValhallaDSP, either ValhallaRoom or Valhalla Vintage Reverb. Both products are excellent and only 50 bucks apiece. The best bargains around.

Edit: You may also want to consider adding a good limiter. TB Barricade is a great value. iZotope Ozone is even better, though more expensive.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Thank you! See, I'm totally a NEWB at this game, and it's great to know that the Sonitus suite is so highly thought of. My bet is that the limitations I'm finding are my own ignorance of the versatility.
    Thanks, again!
