Broke my own rule - SonarPDR issues with X3

I said I was going to wait until the X3 demo but I just couldn't help myself with all the glowing reviews..

Bought X3 - I can load my "work templates" as they have no inserts or plugs but as soon as I load any older 8.5.3 > X2 projects I get the "SonarPDR has stopped and needs to shutdown" message along with the (very cool) message to cakewalk support popup. I have never had this happen before.

any ideas?

Thanks for any help

Edit: Thought I might need to add some system specs.. just in case
ADK - I7 2600K
Win 7 64 bit
8 gigs ddr 3 ram
3 drives
RME Multiface 2
Lavry Blue on the spdif ins and outs
Sonar 8.5.3 > X2>X3
MCU and Nocturn controllers
too many plugins to mention..

Hi D K,

Sorry to hear about the crashes. I took a look at your fault report submissions and they're identifying the crash site as the Steven Slate Virtual Channel (Automap).dll.

A few places I'd look into for troubleshooting.

First test:

Most simply, try disconnecting the Nocturn and close the Automap software to see if you can launch your project. This may or may not have an impact.

Second test:

Try launching your project in SAFE Mode. You can do this by launching SONAR first without opening a project. Afterwards, hold down the SHIFT key on your keyboard and launch the project in question. It will ask you if you want to enable or disable plug-ins and go through the list of plug-ins present in the session. Try disabling the .dll I mentioned above. If it still crashes, try disabling the Steven Slate Virtual Channel plug-in altogether. If it still crashes, try disabling all plug-ins. Jot down which method gets you into the project.

Third test:

Have you tried the recommend reset and rescan steps we listed here? http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/kb/reader.aspx/2007013315

Please report back. I'd be interested to find out how you make out. I'm curious if the crash is related to the Automap wrapped .dll or the Steven Slate Virtual Channel plug-in in general.

Best regards,

Been reading a bit more.. I was aware of the UAD issues..figured that would get solved in short order but now I  just read that there might be issues with the Waves 9.2x64 bit shell as well?

if so - my past projects are full of both..wonder if that is causing the problem??

Actually, upon further investigation the second fault report references WaveShell-VST 9.2_x64 (Automap).dll

So there's definitely something going on with the Automap wrapped .dll.s.

With that being the case, definitely give test 3 above a shot.

Have you updated to X3B yet? That is a must if you are using UAD and Waves.

Thanks Ryan - awesome feedback - I will be back at the studio here in a bit - and will try all mentioned above
Looks like automap is the common denominator here .. Hmmm

Let you know - appreciate it again Ryan!

I have a Novation ReMOTE SL at my desk at work. I don't think I've booted it up with Automap lately though. Definitely going to investigate myself tomorrow when in the office to see if I can reproduce.

FYI I've been running X3 (now X3b) for a week with a Novation MkII booting with Automap.  Have had no problems at all with the Automapped-wrapped dlls.  (No X3 related problems with anything else, for that matter.)  Mainly have been using Native Instruments Kontakt and some other NI plugins so far.

Ok .. first ..whatever is going with this is definitely Automap related - removed all the autowrapped dlls. (big fun..not! ).. and the project loads... so whatever is going on at the moment is definitely related to that at least on my system

Horace..what version of the novation software are running if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks

more testing.. will report back later

Yeah..for whatever reason..X3(b) definitely does not like Automapped plugs on my system

Rolled back to a previous version of Novation's automap software and X3 "pitched a fit"..

removed the wrapped dlls. and boom - loaded up and ready

I like Nocturn alot and haven't had any problems until this version

Let me know what you find out tomorrow Ryan..thanks for the input

Using Automap v 4.7.  I believe it's the current update.

I installed Automap v4.7 as well today and I'm not running into any crashes. Setup was pretty flawless for me.

D K, do you know what version of Automap you're running? Latest downloads here: http://us.novationmusic.com/support/downloads

Hey Ryan,

Just to report back.. I know you probably saw the problem reports i sent in late last night.. for some reason automap is just causing all kinds of fits with X3 on my system using version 4.7.. As soon as I remove the automapped plugs all is right.. guess it is either just an anomaly with my system or it doesn't like the plugs I am wrapping..
anyway .. just to keep the dialogue open in case you see anything in the reports I might be missing

Other than that and the UAD thing..X3 is a beast..

Thanks again
