Something I discovered, depending on your audio system...

Even though this sounds counter intuitive, there is a setting in the .ini file for MAX THREADS... if you are getting stuttering at lower latencies, it actually helps to set this at 5 or 6 to allow your PC audio drivers to get enough CPU power.

I have an APOLLO running in TB and this really helped my system... I stumbled upon this trying to get the audio glitches out of the signal chain and I have mine set at 6 even though I have eight threads available (SONAR gets 6, the OS gets the other 2).

This is in addition to the other suggested settings for multiple core CPUs above, not instead of.

Hope this helps someone else out,
    Jim

Jim where can i find the .ini file? Yea i experience dropouts while playing 4 midi tracks and recording new midi track at the same time.

Are they really dropouts or skipped notes? To fix skipped notes don't forget to increase the "Prepare Using nnn Millisecond Buffers" in Preferences > MIDI > Playback and Recording to at least 500.

Its really a dropout scook. The midi playback and recordng was set to 5000 but just set to 1000. Same thing.

Perhaps it isn't the init file but it is a table of SONAR variables that you can edit under advanced settings.... the variables are already listed but you can edit the values.....

Maybe it is called the CONFIG file... I forget and not in the studio now.

    Hope that helps.
