EW Basses and Sonar crash

Okay, here's a stumper for you: for some time, I have not been able to use East West SO basses, because when I stop or pause the music while they are playing, Sonar crashes, I get a nasty loud noise, and have to restart my computer. I have worked extensively with Cakewalk Support, who have been helpful and attentive, but could not solve the problem. East West also has no answers. I have reinstalled the basses, but no luck. Cakewalk thought it had something to do with running the TTS-1 synth, so I eliminated it, still no luck. I just last night decided that maybe the Dimension Pro could be the problem, so I eliminated that. I have yet to try to see if that worked. But I don't have much hope. I'm thinking that it might be a hardware problem, perhaps something with my mobo. I did a memory test, no issue there. Anyone else have this problem? any suggestions?
Thanks, Mike

You'll need to list a lot more information first. Version of Sonar, 64 or 32 bit, Audio interface driver mode, computer specs OS,  all these things will give clues, don't start uninstalling stuff, that seems all wrong to me. If a certain plug in is the only one causing problems then that company should have the answers.

Are you talking about EW Play 3 or 4? I have Play and it developed problem with V-Station (Novation). The problem persists only in that one project. Try to start new project and see if it persists.

I'm using Play 3, and the problem occurs on any project. the noise is quite nasty, like an emergency buzzer on a ship. I mean it's frightening!

Update: Getting rid of Dimension Pro and updating sound card driver did not solve problem. Sonar crashed again last night, when in a careless moment I paused the music. Luckily I had saved. This is a major bummer, as EW has the best basses I have on my system. Way better than Garritan, even better than Vienna.

Are these 32 bit plug ins?
If so try installing the 32 Bit version of Sonar and see what happens.
Before you install it, re name your Sonar 8.5 Icon with 64 bit so you'll know which is which.
You can have both versions installed  but have to be carefull not to get them mixed up.
Then you'll have to open using the new icon and start a new project etc. Don't just double click CWP icons or you'll get lost.

But then I lose out on the advantages of having 64 bit! I'm going to search for a less drastic option. One thing I might try is to bounce the midi track to audio. The problem there is that I would no longer have notes to edit (for volume, e.g.). Or maybe there is another way to stop the music, without hitting the space bar or stop/pause buttons?

Increasingly I think this is a soundcard problem. I'm trying to get a support ticket to M-Audio, but they won't send me a confirmatory email...
