ARA Drum Sample Replacement

Dan, thank you for posting that blog.  Much appreciated!
Just curious, how does this method handle flams, rolls, etc?  I've found that audiosnap does not always detect flams.  I often have to manually place markers, so I assume that ARA might have the same issue.  Do you have any tips for more complex drumming, or is that a bit over the head of the technology at the moment?

Thanks for any insight!

That's definitely a great question. Technology has come really far in this aspect and you can virtually do just about anything to drums these days.  Audio Snap, Drumagog, Sound Replacer, Trigger, and ARA can all track transients pretty well.  That being said, you can only use these tools to a certain degree once you run into complex fills, rolls, and ghost-note passages.  What I do in these situations is manually replace the complex drum passages. You will begin to hear the difference once you dig in and start manually dropping in samples and automating volumes and what not. I hope this helps!

Maybe THAT's a good idea for a blog post.....I'll keep it on the to-do list :)

    Yessir that's often what I do ;)
Just curious to see if that's what others did as well.  I find that Trigger does a fine job, but once you get into replacing with your own personal samples, it can become a chore.  But, I find the results are great!
