X3 Track Colors are also PRV Note Colors-Track Grouping VS Multi-Track PRV Editing Dilema
So I like the idea of the X3 track colors in TV and CV from a grouping point of view so I can make all the string tracks blue (for example). But I now see that these track colors are also the note colors in PRV. So if I have several tracks showing in PRV (as I often do), and if they are the same track color, the note colors of the several tracks are the same - degrading from the multi-track viewing and editing experience in PRV.
It looks like if I really want the notes of different tracks to be different colors in PRV I'll need to give up the TV and CV color grouping advantage.
Is there a way I can have both????
Thanks

If you select a track that should also select all the clips on the track. Then go to the Clips tab in the TI and you can change the foreground color there.

True... it's the defaults that can't be set. For that reason I might wait until I was I've recorded all my parts for that track... I personally tend to use color coding when I'm arranging or mixing vs. recording.

Thanks - but not a good solution for me. First, the PRV not colors are tied to the track colors. So I must make my 3 string tracks a different colors so they will be differentiated in PRV. Now to get color grouping I (as suggested) make the clip colors of these three tracks the same - now they look grouped in PRV. BUT, in CV, which shows only track colors, grouping is not to be had. Not a satisfying approach. Any solutions?

The notes in PRV are the foreground colour - so we're working on the basis of making all clips the same colour (background colour) and grouping by foreground colour.
I agree that this isn't ideal - especially as you say, when looking at a few different MIDI tracks in PRV.
I think it would be good to group our tracks by the *background* colour - for example make audio clips use black for the foreground colour and group them by background colour (black on blue, black on red etc etc). Then for MIDI tracks we could still have a group of - for example - blue background clips, with different foreground colours - to see them better in PRV with a few MIDI parts on screen.
THE PROBLEM - I don't see background colour in the colour settings any more! I know they are still configurable as I imported some colour schemes from X2, and I have all different background colours for clips.
so I think it would be good for the X3 colours to represent the *background* clip colours! and then let us easily modify the forgoing colours on MIDI tracks (audio tracks actually work fine the way things are now)
what does anyone else think?
