I Miss You Right Now
This is a song I wrote a while back about missing someone in your life that really means a lot to you. I hope to re-record this sometime in the future, LOL, I tried using a little bit of vocal correction software on this tune but it didn't seem to help. LOL, I have to laugh, It's like the definition of insanity where you keep doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result where adding my vocals go. I've actually re-written the words a bit for the new version I hope to do sometime before the end of the year and hopefully will get someone who can actually sing to work with me on this recording. It ain't perfect, but then again I guess nothing ever is, Thanks for listening, that means everything. http://seriousnoize.bandc...k/i-miss-you-right-now

Love the guitars. Add a few harmonies and you're in The Byrds territory. Nice mix as well! Regards, Dan

Sorry for the slow reply everyone, I've been really busy here lately. Thanks to all who have listened!! Jan - Thank you, I rewrote some of the words to this song and hope to rerecord it sometime in the next few months. Thanks again. Dan - Thank you, that's something I just never seem to think of, the irony is most of the songs I have done I start them out with the intentions of lots of harmonies on the vocals, but since I am not a singer and just wing it somehow I just plain forget about trying to add harmonies. Thanks again. John - Thank you, hopefully the next version will be a better production. Too many times in the past I've recorded stuff and just left it as it is, I'm hoping to spend some more time on everything on a re-do of this song. Thanks again.

The more you work on things the better they will get. Your vocals have certainly gotten better. And the guitar has that jingly jangly sound that is the Byrds clasic sound.... clean and picked. Use melodyne to fix the vocals.... I recommend it highly because I use it. I hear what it does for my vox tracks. Nuff said.

I like this song. Nice work! One thing others haven't mentioned above is that vocal technique isn't all about pitch (although pitch is of course also important). I think there are some issues with your vocal phrasing. You sound a little mechanical, as if you're struggling a little to sing specific words at exact times, and it sounds jagged because you're not quite sure of each step as you go. I suggest you try to naturally emote the lyrics along with the song. Maybe try singing along with it 10 or 20 (or 50 if necessary!) times, and trying to find your vocal lines and get comfortable with singing the song. Don't make it too rigid. Make it sound natural. Try to make it sound like it's a story you're telling for the first time.

Hi Bobby sounds like your going strong with your music , sounds GREAT ! Haven't been around here much because of all the packing for our cross country move , we leave for Nashville , Tennessee on the 1st of Nov. and I'm not looking forward to it at all . The loading of the truck we rented and the long hours of driving straight non-stop is what I'm not looking forward to , 40 hours of straight driving with stops along the way . But once we get settled in our new apartment hopefully I can get back to recording again I Hope . Its been a few months of not playing or recording anything because of the hand surgery and then suddenly we decided to move across country to Nashville ,TN . Its just too much money to live here now on the west coast when your on a fixed income and thats why we are moving back there , everything is less expensive in Tennessee with housing , car insurance and health insurance plus gas prices is less . I pack up my computer this week-end but I can keep checking in here using my iPhone 5 cell phone , I'll checkback later and see if your adding more updates to your song . Songs sound great , keep at my friend ! James

You have a really good number going here. It does have a Byrds sound to it and the guitars do sound great. If you are worried about the vocals, Walt had some good suggestions. A lot of times the lyrics don't fit the timing and melody. You might want to give a look at that also. For example, you used one phrase " and that is what worries me" where you seemed to rush the lyrics in order to fit them in. A simple change in the lyrics to something like "and that worries me" might help make the vocals come a bit more smoothly. I certainly can empathize with the frustration of working on something for what seems like ages and still not getting it where you want it (like me with my last posting). It sounds great so far and don't let frustration hinder you.

Excellent guitars as noted elsewhere. Top notch sound. The jangling bit probably needs to duck a notch or two more during the vocals so the vocals float above them. And I would try a few things on those vocals - maybe a light delay. They sound good but could be a bit more up front. More reverb would probably push them farther back, hense the delay. but I could be all wrong. @

jameyoyo - Thanks man, I really like the guitar I recorded this with, but it has a lot of problems with it. I'm hoping to upgrade sometime in the near future. Thanks for listening and replying. Guitarhacker - Thank you for taking the time to listen and reply. I'm hoping I can correct a lot of things on the next version, if all goes as planned I will have a singer who doesn't need voice correction, at least too much that is. I like trying to sing but I have too many problems just trying to speak sometimes, I have a lot of problems with my voice just talking sometimes. Thanks again. Waltenstein Studios - Thank you for taking the time to listen and reply, Your 100% right on with what you are saying. I have a lot of problems just speaking sometimes. I rush things and do too many one takes on recording. I hope my next version of this song will be more polished and better performed, I plan on taking more time with it and hopefully getting things better mixed. I'm no mix master that's for sure. Thanks again for taking the time to listen and reply. The Night Fox - Thanks for taking the time James, Hey I hope you and your family have a safe trip going all the way from the west coast to the east, Man I know that is something I wouldn't want to do. Have a safe trip my friend, take a rest at the rest stops if you get tired. Thanks again for taking the time to listen and reply. Freddy J - Thanks Freddy J, Now that I listen to the song after a few months after recording this I know you are right on with everything you are saying my friend. I tend to rush things a lot of times, not just with music but obviously with vocals also. Thanks again, I am taking notes and hope the next version I post of this song will be better. Thanks again. AT - Thank you, I'm hoping to get someone to sing this song for me on the next version. Actually a GIRL to sing it, I have re-written the words. We shall see how this works out, it might be a few months, but I don't wanna rush anything anymore. In the past I was just so excited to be recording that I would post anything and everything, I overdone that. Hopefully the next version will be much better. Thank you for taking the time to listen and reply. Wookiee - Thank you for taking the time to listen and reply I wanna take a lot more time on the next version of this and hopefully have a real singer sing it for me, thanks again.

I wanted to ask everyone how the bass might sound better on this? Should I adjust the sound to be brighter or re-record it, I know it's not perfect, it's kinda a lose sound so I left it. It has a natural sound to it, is natural sounding always the best? I'm fixing to start re-working on this song, lyrics have been re-written which I think are better word choices. My personal choices for a lot of things are always raw sounding, I'm no mix master that's for sure. I would like to try and do something special with this song though. Any advice is welcomed. Thank you all for taking the time!! Sorry I haven't been on here in a while, I have been so busy it's ridiculous. I do wanna take the time to say HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all!! Bobby

Bobby, I just started posting again on this forum after being away for 2 or 3 years. Man, you have gotten a lot better!!! I like this song a lot. So singing isn't your strong point. So what? The song itself is very good and well written. And all the parts; drums, guitars, bass, etc. are all well executed and nicely recorded and mixed. I think if a really great singer took a shot at this song it would be excellent indeed. I struggle with singing and songwriting a lot myself. I'm 46 years old and I'm just starting to feel more comfortable with my singing. It's really interesting to come back to the forum after a long absence and see just how much better people have gotten at their craft. You've really improved a lot!!! Peace, Don

Everyone is critical about their own vocals, turn them up I want to hear them. That might just make everything else sit better as well. Good song. Did I mention that it's a GOOD SONG.

I liked it, and especially the guitar work as others have said. This is a good song. Just keep working on the mix. I'm a newb, but I'd leave the guitars alone, then mix your vocals to sit well, and then balance the mix around that core.

Thanks for taking the time to listen and reply everyone. Sorry I haven't been on here for a while, I have been busy with other things. I'm hoping to re-record this song with someone who can sing that I have been talking to in the near future, I have to get a few things in order first before doing so. I decided to go back to the original words that I wrote this song about, I think they fit better, the words in this version are not the original ones. Thanks again everyone!
