Import midi - no sound.

OK, done this before but it used to work.  I dl'd a midi file, imported it into a project that I setup with an instrument that I tested it as working.  The import won't play.  The midi track shows the notes, I can see meter play activity, I can record my own midi on the same track and listen to it, I can play the keys in PRV, but the midi notes won't sound when I click on them.
Are there other midi formats that I need to covert this to?  I can click on it in Windows explorer and it plays.  Tried putting it on different tracks but no sound.

Look at the MIDI data in the event list. There may be events that need to be deleted from the track.

OK...the imported midi is channel 2 and the one I made is channel 1.  How do you change 7000 events from ch2 to ch 1? or set the track to play ch 2?  I tried changing the midi in to ch 2 but no change?

Use the event inspector in the control bar. Select the clip and change channel number.

OK,  before that, after trying about every button and option on the interface, I tried a different synth.  DOHH.
Turns out that synth had an option to load different patches in each bank, and the default was bank 1, which was what I recorded to by default.
and YES I figured out which drop down to pick the midi channel.
