Which Deal ?

Hi,
I'm going to hit the button at the end of the month and upgrade from X2a Producer
to X3b producer, but I've just noticed that time & space are offering Izotope's
Nectar Elements for £29, now I know the new one is being released next week, and X3b
has Melodyne, would this be a waste of money, although not a lot of money, do they offer different
applications for vocals, or just take Melodyne for free in X3b ?

Thanks
John

They're completely different. Melodyne does (mainly) vocal correction, you can fix individual note pitch and timing. It works on other melodic instruments too, and on polyphonic ones if you upgrade. While Nectar has a basic "autotune" its philosophy is mainly "vocal channel strip" like with tools such as compressor, gate, eq and de-esser.

Nectar 2 is supposedly going to add a lot more in the area of vocal correction.  watch the videos you can see blobs like melodyne.  probably not as good.

I think Necar2 is vocal effects and melodyne pitch correction.  at the basics.

I got X3 Pro with the included Melodyne essentials and am going to stick with that for a while.  Nectar 2 I will probably buy as soon as released.  always good to have more effects.  that's me.

If I were you, I'd get X3, and use the other money to upgrade to Melodyne Editor for $149.

That would be money well spent IMHO...
