I received the Korg micro key keyboard and the Korg Legacy collection. Wow, what a great collection of cool sounding synths. Who knows, I might even try my hand at dance music. haha

Hi Dave,
Couple of things in your post stick out to me.
You have a Fatar 88 key controller and you ask about an Organ sound. All the 88 key controllers I'm aware of have a weighted (piano style) action and if someone really wants to play an organ on it you might also want to purchase some band aids for the poor soul.
It may be more of an advantage to try to purchase a used 61 key Korg, Kurzweil, or Yamaha synth that would offer you both acoustic and electronic type sounds. Some of the sounds in the Korgs are amazing and are voiced/proceesed to sit well in a mix. Another advantage is that the synth is going to be producing the sounds vs. taxing your computer/DAW.

+1... I use my Roland Juno (not weighted) and it triggers NI's Hammond B4 plug, I've always loved it and it's always worked great (sounds just like a Hammond) Just used it on one that my colab partner is getting ready to post.

I am glad you like the Legacy collection Dave. I think it has some great sounds in it. As one who plays keys though, what I think I hear you saying is that your customers want something that sounds good, is not difficult to dial a sound and just works. I would keep both a hardware rompler like the Motif and the software as well.
When I play I don't want to be bothered by the latency you might get with a VST. Guys who play keys live for a living usually have something they can access fast like a hardware rompler. That way you can track both the "live" rompler sound as audio and a midi track of their playing. Later on you can add any VST instrument you want. I know you can get the latency to almost nothing but I still prefer the "feel" of the hardware. To me this is the best of both worlds, in direct monitoring the hardware and using the midi track. Sometimes I mix the two, sometimes the audio track sounds better, sometimes I scrap the audio track and take something from one of my VSTs.

Well, so far I have the Korg Legacy Collection on the way. I bought the EMU libraries for Dim Pro from Digital Sound Factory.
I will probably buy at least Komplete 9 once I build my Paypal account back up or just get impatient to have it available.
Hi Dave, With the Korg Legacy Collection and Komplete 9, you've covered a pretty wide range of sounds... and you have room to expand with specialty Kontakt libraries. If you get into cinematic type stuff, consider adding Omnisphere. Eric Persing is a sound design genius (behind many of the classic Roland sounds).

I'm a stringed instrument kind of guy and I wish that keyboardists would show up with a keyboard, push some buttons and play the flippin' track. However, they don't do that. They show up and see my Fatar 88 key controller and want to play that.
I'm surprised nobody suggested the obvious. Hide your Fatar 88 controller so they don't see it. Then they will show up with a keyboard, push some buttons and play the flippin' track
