Can I sell my licenses?

Hi there!

I was wondering with I can sell my Cakewalk licenses and, if I can, how can I better do it?

I have Sonar X2 Producer, Concrete Limiter, CA2A, PC4K comp, PC4K gate, Dimension Pro and Rapture.

Thanks a lot for your help

Peace

No u can not sell it, put it in da trashbin ;-)
Do i hear some crying..., yes sadly it's money out of the window
don't mean to be offensive here

They sell it, you buy it and own it !

When you own something you should be able to sell it right ?
That's just my opinion.

What if we sold our older Cakewalk software, would that mean less
sales for Cakewalk !, or would it increase Cakewalk's sale ?

IMO i think they would reach more customers by allowing
Cakewalk users
to spread /promote the product !

You checked the boxes agreeing you have no right to sell or transfer, during the install.

The funny thing is that most ppl starting making music
starting with pirate software, to explore more than 30 day's to
really get to know the product over a longer period.
Also trying different DAW's etc, to find out if that suit's the need, and the workflow.

the question is will he / she, buy a legal product later ?

1 : I need to confess ...
Yes i have used pirated software, but not anymore.
Why i buy now... because supporting the software developer to make
a better product is important.

2: I am now Christian, that's the second reason  ;-)

But the industry is greedy on making money, not just music software

but everything.

And if they sell a product, they will also charge you money
to transfer a product as well.
That i do not like, but that's me.

I have buy'd quite a lot of plugins, but instead of reselling it
i have tossed loads onto the trashcan and deleted it for
some reasons...

I upgraded to X2 studio, but that also went into the trashcan, and hit the delete button. ;D

Which may not be legal in Brazil.  Some countries don't allow software companies to forbid selling off your license, as I understand it.

Personally, as a trade off for having serial/regcode copy protection (as opposed to something more restrictive), I think it's totally worth it.

This comes up form time to time and my answer is how is Brazil or any other country going to enforce their prohibition?  CW can not be forced to recognize a used license.

The only way would be to prohibit the sale of CW products in their country. Not the most advantageous solution for consumers in those countries. And would be in violation of free trade agreements.

Yes having a serial / registry registration is the best.
then you can re install and activate the product endlessly !

Let's use ( IK multimedia ) as an example.

If i need to re install my computer, or my HK fails
i need to activate the product once more.
When this happens and you have used all the  " Activations "
more money is needed, to be able to reactivate again ?
There you go.. Money, and Money..

Correct me if i am wrong.

It would mean having to contact their tech support to be able to reactivate. No money would need to change hands.

Just like the original question, this is a tech support issue. Not a forum issue.

Just put in some of my thought's that's all.

Anyway if you have a serial / regfile, you are not depended
to have any internet connection to activate your products.
then you can install your software at your cabin
far in the wood's, assuming it has power to run your computer ;D

ill stop there..

We do not offer license transfers. That's a bit different from prohibiting someone to sell something. Important distinction.

Not transferring licenses is a huge part of what allows us to offer upgrade pricing for loyal customers. Owning a license for the software is what allows us to offer free technical support and cheap product upgrades.

If you sell your physical copy of SONAR to someone, we're not going to recognize them as being the owner of the license. They will not receive technical support, we will not unlock their products for them, and they will not be eligible for applicable upgrade promotions.

I know there are a lot of mixed opinions regarding this topic and different laws in different countries. People love to argue EULAs etc. Regardless, what's most important here is that we've built our business around providing loyal customers with great support and cheap upgrades. Intentionally side-stepping this hurts our business, which as an end result hurts our product and our customers.

Also, I can't even begin to tell you how upset people on the receiving end of buying used licenses tend to be. I personally wouldn't want to be on the other end of that :)

I like it. : )  I can't prevent you from selling your copy of the software - we just don't offer license transfers. Period.
