Just getting ready to post this...

This looks interesting...if he prices it right he'll do well...
But with so many of these out there already...it's iffy...

I'm sure it will do very well.
Remember it will be released 'Standard Slate Time ' so it's anybody's guess when it will actually be available.

You're probably right Carl,
But I'm getting kinda tired of SSL, and Neve, and etc.
emulations....it's getting old ...and redundant...

Let's have some ground breaking new stuff please...

I have resisted getting the waves SSL collection so would be interested to listen to the EQ.

I think the price and then the subsequent modules will be the decider for most people.

Looks nice but I have Waves SSL and UAD SSL (the proper one) and I can't count how many Pulteqs I have.

So this looks to be a pass for me, especially now since I have to watch my pennies very closely.

"The line between analog and digital has completely collapsed"

Does that mean there is NO MORE sound? Sounds like a black hole to me.

Yes...if you make 6 figures....like most of them do....that's how "they" define affordable...
I guess the Raven is "affordable" to them also...as is a Slate Dragon, etc...

Re: Virtual Mix Rack | Slate Digital Pre-Release Preview 2014/05/08 18:59:25 (permalink)
more info today
http://app.streamsend.com...W8Lt4R/browse/21239339

After two years of dedication and hard work from our entire team, the Virtual Mix Rack (VMR as it's been called), is in its last weeks of completion.
Imagine having a customizable virtual rack of the most authentic mix processors all on the screen in front of you.  You'll have the power to mix faster, more efficiently, and with the analog modeled sound that you've come to expect from us.  And when we release the first four module mix bundle... we're gonna knock off a hundred bucks and give them to you for $149 for the first two weeks.  That's right.  All four modules of analog modeled perfection, for one insanely low price.

FG-N EQ:  This gorgeous sounding equalizer is modeled after one of the most classic British designs in the history of production.  And we've modeled every little nuance of it!  It's amazing how even with normal use, there is a beautiful saturation in the filters, as well as subtle harmonics that give it a unique character. You can use the line input to drive it all the way to a fat distortion.  The EQ's circuit path has sweet tone without even moving the filter knobs!  This classic processor sounds amazing on EVERYTHING! Also stay tuned for the preamp emulation of the FG-N that will be used with our upcomingVirtual Microphone System hardware!

FG-S EQ:  This classic equalizer is modeled off of the famous mixing desk EQ, and it is the ultimate workhorse. Again, we found that this EQ adds little bits of harmonics that help shape the mid bands and gives them an aggressive sound on drums, bass, and guitars when boosted heavily.  The hi-pass filter allows you to remove the low end 'gunk' from your tracks, without affecting the rest of the frequencies. It's an amazing EQ with all the quality and tone of the classic mix desk it was modeled after.

FG-401 Compressor:  This compressor is a hybrid of some of the most popular VCA channel compressors that are used in modern audio.  It has the ability to be quite the chameleon by offering TWO unique sounding circuit paths, and by enabling its ultra deep and fat sounding transformer. It sounds good on everything you can put it through and will ooze analog goodness.  It'll also have a ton of presets to get you started.

FG-116 Compressor:  "This was the most difficult compressor I've ever modeled" said Slate CTO Fabrice Gabriel.  The FG-116 is a dead on recreation of the classic American FET compressor.  No expense was spared to recreate every, and we really mean EVERY, little nuance that makes this compressor so special.  This classic compressor is amazing on everything and is certainly a favorite on lead vocals and drums.

And in typical Slate fashion, we'll put our audio where our marketing is and prove the authenticity of each unit by doing lots of hardware vs software comparisons!  The reason the VMR has taken so long is because we will only release this product when it is indistinguishable from the originals. And we are proud to say that this has happened, so we're wrapping up the final programming and expect a release within the next few weeks.

Other Information:

- VMR Modules will be highly CPU efficient. You'll be able to run TONS of them on your native machine without the need for any additional DSP hardware.

 - VMR Modules have no latency in their processing, thanks to new internal 64bit processing and proprietary oversampling techniques.  This means that you can track through them with your DAW on low buffer with only 1.5ms roundtrip latency.  No third party application needed for tracking with plugins!

- We've got LOTS of new VMR modules in store.  And here is our promise: They will sound awesome, help you make great sounding music, and they will be AFFORDABLE.  Like.. very affordable.  Just because you want to use great mix processors doesn't mean you have to go broke.  To get four analog modeled processors from our competitors would cost you $1200!!!

That's it for now. We're so excited about launching this new platform, and are preparing over 20 new tutorial videos with expert mixing tips using the modules.

AND ONE MORE THING...  Before we release the VMR Mix Bundle of Four Modules, we're gonna release the VMR Rack for FREE, and it will come with a surprise FREE MODULE that might just be the coolest and most useful mix and mastering processor we've done yet. Stay tuned..

$149 for all 4 modules, plus the mystery freebie.  Now that's pretty reasonable!

Good timing for Slate to give us the scoop right as UAD releases their new 1073, which is $299 by itself.  Well played, Mr. Slate.  Well played.

Cheers,

Oh no...that's way too cheap....IK says that they are worth $150 Each, and should be $125 INTRO Priced
for EACH MODULE, which means this should be priced at $600.00 and change...

What's wrong with Steven Slate anyways?  Doesn't he know anything
