POLYPHONY

Hi
I have got my Sonar X3 up and running and now going through the learn curve.
Everything Is running great and I have put all folders and screen sets where I want them.

My question Is------

If I play six notes  at once  with both hands I get notes cutting out.
I can play three notes without a note dropping ,but If I want to put In a live melody vamping with the left hand ,notes disappear on all soft synths. (5 notes simultaneously plays ok, but not 6
If you play six note some notes do not sound as if they are not there. Like pressing a key and silence.
It could be random, any of the six That Is the way It seems to me

Is there a property I have to adjust or is It something to do with the soundcard or limitations of computers today?????????????
I have a Quad core I7 machine running win 7.
When you multi track things play ok--weird!!

PS  Is It something to do with Asio being 24 bit as opposed to 16 bit????  In check box
All the Best
John

Some synths are multitimbral, some not. In the soft synths GUI you can usually adjust the polyphony.
Could be your keyboard has a related setting, too, but I'm not sure about the details.
Anyways, in the end it's synth dependant.

    Hi Kalle

I played an FM 8 and the  X3 electric piano and both are Multi-Timbral.
Today I started up my Tyros 4 and then my Emu 0404 and phatboy control unit ,then computer.
All Is playing well now and I can play six notes without a glitch.
I am just wondering If I started things up In the wrong sequence. The computer has to recognize everything.
I also may have pressed a wrong button on the Tyros 4.
    To recap.
I played both hands --six notes and some notes did not sound. It was like pressing a silent key and It was random.
Going great now ,but what was going on I still do not know.
I hope It does not happen again.
Just getting used to the additive Drums now and seems fantastic as you can add midi files and re-arrange them.

The Comping Is out of this world and beats lego brick building as with samples.
    Nothing like imagination and melody.
Once I have the next update and ironed out niggles, I will then Norton Ghost my drive.

    All the best
    John
