X3: Strange Zoom Behaviour?
Hi All Is anyone else getting this behaviour when using the scroll zoom (eg Alt + Mouse wheel) If I am zoomed in on a track further down the screen (eg track 20) and try to zoom out using the mouse scroll wheel the screen jumps to the first track so I have to zoom out and then move down again I am sure this should be just zooming out from where I am working? Is anyone else getting this or is there a change in method I am not aware of? Fanks

Which did you choose in Track View > Options > Mouse Wheel Zoom Options? "On Active Track" or "At Cursor"?

Just tried all of the options and it is still doing the same thing? It jumps to the top of the track list when using "Alt + scroll wheel on mouse" regardless of setting!?!?!? Drag zooming on the timeline is working fine - it is just the "mouse zoom" Anyone else getting this?

Hmm.....I changed the options and tried to recreate your issue, but it works fine here (I'm using X3 base version btw).

Thanks for the suggestions JLIEN X but still no joy this end I am using X3 Producer and have tried this on new projects and existing ones and am getting the same (wrong?) behaviour!?!? I have just tried exactly the same thing in X2 Producer and it works perfectly!?!?! The settings under "Track View > Options > Mouse Wheel Zoom Options" are identical in both X2 and X3 (zoom at cursor) but in X3 whenever I zoom within the Track View the screen jumps to the top UPDATE: I have now found that if I use the ZOOM tool (press Z and then click on a clip) the screen scrolls to the BOTTOM of the track view!?!?! This is some very strange zoom behaviour! Any ideas as this is wrecking my workflow?

If anyone has a chance could they quickly try the following for me: load up a project with a good number of tracks Scroll down in the track view so that the first few tracks can't be seen on the screen Now "ALT + Mouse Scroll Wheel" zoom into one of your tracks lower down in the track view Does the Track View shoot back to the top (ie showing Track 1)? If my first track is not showing on the screen I am getting this "shooting back to the top of the Track View" behaviour If the first track is in view on the screen then it appears to work fine!?!?!??! As soon as my first track moves off the screen the "ALT + Mouse Scroll Wheel" zoom moves the screen to get the first track back in view I have tried all of the MOUSE WHEEL ZOOM OPTIONS but none seem to make a difference to this behaviour I am on X3 Producer It is driving me nuts!! TIA

Yes, I can confirm that vertical zoom with the mouse wheel jumps the view to track 1 and vertically zooms that track in X3 regardless of zoom options settings, and that this was not a problem in X2. Looks like a bug to me.

Thanks DAN At least it isn't me going mad or an issue with my system!!! I would appreciate any feedback you can gather as this was an important part of my workflow - and thanks to BRUNDLEFLY for checking It is interesting that JLIEN X is not seeing the issue on the "base" version of X3?

.......I didn't realize "a track further down the screen" means a track currently not visible in the screen.......my English learning journey continues..... Oh, yes, I've confirmed the issue in the base version too. Hope this will be fixed in X3d.

Was this resolved? I am having strange zoom behavior with the alt- mouse wheel combination as well. Horizontal zoom at cursor, and vertical zoom in general, works sporadically. Only horizontal zoom at now time gives consistent results on my system.

It's resolved. I've just loaded the Normal project template and created 100 tracks and checked it. As for the Ctrl+Alt+mousewheel horizontal zoom, the At Cursor option seem to work fine as well (I only use At Now Time, though).

I am still getting strange behaviour My original issue has been fixed However, now when I "Alt + mouse wheel scroll" the screen jumps to the LAST track - ie the Track View now jumps DOWN instead of UP (which was the previous issue) It does occasionally work correctly but I can't work it out "It's resolved. I've just loaded the Normal project template and created 100 tracks and checked it" @ Jlien X - could you please check this again but this time put some of your 100 tracks into Track Folders as I wonder whether this is causing the issue

This time, I've created only 30 tracks (100 was too many, wasn't it? lol), and put them into two track folders (15 tracks each). When the folders are both expanded, no problem. When only the first folder is expanded, no problem either. But when only the second folder is expanded, the zoom doesn't work properly.

Thanks for checking. So it seems there is still some work to be done. Ugh. I am finding more and more bugs like this in X3. My initial "this is way better than X2!" excitement is wearing off and I am wondering again if I need to make a move to another DAW. Really, this is the kind of thing that some decent beta testing should pick up.
